You can activate phone #1 to have the bundled 1-yr and units loaded to it. Then activate phone #2 WITH A TRANSFER from phone #1; service on phone #1 (phone number, 1-yr, units) get transferred to phone #2, then the bundled 1-yr and units for phone #2 get added on top, giving phone #2 two years of service and 2x the units.

If you're currently using a phone on TF, your can activate phone #1 WITH A TRANFER from your current phone to have your current phone number, days, units transferred to phone #1, then the bundled 1-yr and units for phone #1 get added on top. Then activate phone #2 with a transfer from phone #1. After that, if you prefer to use your current phone, re-activate your current phone with a transfer from phone #2. Smart existing TF users do that all the time to "harvest" cheap service days and units from those HSN/QVC bundles.

Folks, just so you're aware...

The service plan is 1500 text, 1500 minutes, 1.5gb data -- for the *entire year*. Not per month. That's about 4 minutes of talk time per day.

It's an extremely minimal and restrictive cellular plan, one that you could even call insultingly low - especially if you're used to cellular plans in modernized nations (aka, ones outside the the USA). It's not for everyone, and make sure it fits your use case.

No need to be insulted - for many people (for example, those who use less than 4 minutes of phone talk per day) paying $2 (and sometimes less) per month for a phone service which includes a new smartphone every year is a very good deal.

Yeah that's weird. I did transfer from the first phone to keep the same number. Despite these phones being activated a week apart they both have same unlock dates. Yeah something is not right in their system. Hopefully they both get unlocked within 60 days of each being activated.
I did too & orig active TF was already unlocked, sounds like it just copied the info. Wonder if this is going to be another auto unlock mess like the ST Moto G Power, just have to wait.

Yes, it copies and reports the info (unlock status/date) from the previous phone, but the new phone is locked until 60 days after activation/transfer. (This has been my experience, but for phones without bundled service, it is no longer the case with the new unlock requirement "The cellphone was activated with TracFone service by purchasing and redeeming an airtime plan on that specific phone ("Activation")".)

I've activated lots of new bundled phones keeping current number/account and never had one copy unlock date before, info has always shown the new correct unlock date. First time for everything.

It may depend on the phone models or bundled service. I first noticed [howardforums.com] it earlier this year.

If you are already on Tracfone, there is no reason to wait because the service will stack with your existing service.

I got this deal and have an existing BYOD I want to use instead. So I should activate the 1st Moto with keep my number, then activate the 2nd Moto with the number I ported. How can I use the service on my BYOD then? I read I need to get a BYOD sim for $1, where can I get that? Thanks!

Yes, follow the DIY Guide [reddit.com]. Is your existing service on the TF/Verizon network (ICCID starts with 89148)? Some posts say that you may be able to re-use the SIM. If so, follow the guide again to move service and phone number back to your BYOD phone/SIM.

Thanks for your reply. No, I am porting the number from AT&T landline, but I have a BYOD to use for this after the port, so wondering how to do this correctly in order to use BYOD with the 2 years of service with this deal.

I think you port your AT&T landline to Tracfone by activating the 1st phone and providing porting info. After the porting is completed, DIY to transfer the service to 2nd phone. You may want to wait certain days before service transfer for unlock purpose. Buy a $1 TF BYOD SIM and transfer the service from the 2nd phone to BYOD phone/SIM. You may need CS support to complete this if DIY doesn't work.

Do received SMS count towards the text allocation? When I text BALANCE to 611611 it says I used 30 text but I did not text anyone besides 611611 (which shouldn't count). However I keep getting texts for previous phone number owner. Do these deplete my balance?

Thanks, but curious why we can't just move the SIM to our BYOD phone and everything should work?

Because Tracfone IMEI and SIM are paired. If you move SIM to an unlocked phone, they may deactivate your service right away or after certain period of time.
