I would especially at $850 open box. These are built like tanks. Seems out of stock everywhere.

These are the silver model also not black.

Search 13th gen oxidation problem and you will see what I am talking about.

Internet says it was fixed in 2023.

Looks like mostly open box available now. I see 1 new remaining in IL-Chicago and 1 at OH-Mayfield Heights. Open boxes at various prices available at CA-Tustin, CO-Denver, GA-Marietta, MD-Rockville, MD-Parkville, MI-Madison Heights, MN-St. Louis Park, MO-Brentwood, NJ-North Jersey, NY-Brooklyn, NY-Flushing, PA-St. Davids, and VA-Fairfax. It might be worth asking them about the price on the open boxes that are showing over $824.96. I picked up an open box from the St. Louis Park store for $824 that had been marked at $1100 the day before. The open box I got looked brand new, but YMMV.

Yeah that's intel's official statement but we do not know the true scope of this problem. Feel free to get one if you'd like but I am not touching Intel, especially 13th and 14th gen processors.

The oxidation issue affected 13th/14th Gen Desktop processors. There are zero reports of the thousands that tie the issue to mobile processors. Mobile CPUs aren't just "shrunken down" Desktop CPUs, they're made with different wafers entirely.

less for you, more for smarter buyers. The 13th and 15th gen K SKU CPUs that are affected by the ring bus issues are specific to the desktop market. The H and U SKUs for the laptop segment are fine.

Low information people are so reactionary.

That make these harder to sell thanks to mainstream media. So that smart people can buy it cheap 🐧

It's reasonable to assume that since laptop processors are run at lower wattages, and high-watt K skus are more susceptible, so less power would increase the reliability of this gen. I have no idea where they set power targets for laptops, but they're expected to be somewhat power efficient. I would understand people avoiding these if it's desktop

I think the exception are the HX label processors and those are i9s not like this one. I think the whole thing is overblown and people just want to gossip about intel. The real problem is with systems that run 24/7 and high power targets in the desktop and server lineup. TOMS hardware about 13th gen: https://www.tomshardware.com/news...d-u-series

The details for this processor don't seem to be anywhere near the specs for processors that are having performance issues. 6-performance cores and 4-efficiency cores with a 115-watt max isn't like the 200-watt+ i9s that are burning out in servers and high-end desktop processors. Don't read headlines then paint all products with the same unreliable-brush

Omg it's not that serious. I have a desktop 14900k and running eco mode on asus z790. I have no issues. Crowd mania is weird. Yes intel farked up in some ways but it's case by case.

Only the HX CPUs share dies with desktop

These have low TDPs, but note that the per core TDP is still high.

But if it concerns you, just limit per core boost and/or voltage and you'll be fine
