Thanks op! Like you, I purchased this saw last month when it was on sale. It's a great little saw, very lightweight and compact, great for cutting 2x4s. It is a little underpowered because it's M12, but having the new high output batteries helps significantly.
The same price applies to the cutoff tool with 2x 5.0, oscillating tool with 2x 5.0 and high speed 3/8 ratchet with 2x 5.0 all of which are pretty strong deals. https://www.homedepot.com/Special...yOfTheWeek

Agreed. I totally dig this saw. You just gotta know what it's capable of. I've been wanting these HO batteries specifically for this saw and they will definitely help out! I'll just return this saw with my receipt from last month.
There is also hackable listing for the saw which can get the saw itself down to $92. But consider the 2x 5Ah High Output battery values at lease $150, this deal is way better than hackable one unless you don't want the batteries.
Wife isnt allowing much spending, so if you had a choice of either getting this or the oscillating tool, which would you buy first? Building up my tool war chest.

It really all depends. They are two very different tools. Circular saws have a common job but an oscillating tool can be a real hero in a lot of different situations. More versatile but most certainly cannot replace a circular saw.

Do you have a good drill and driver? I'd look at the Gen 3 impact/hammer drill combo at 138 after hack if not. The 5.0s are going to be more useful and ergonomic in a circular saw imho, but m12 wouldn't be my choice for a circular saw other than as a secondary one. Oscillating tool has more uses, but is very situationally specific, and uses expensive blades/sanding pads/etc for its various uses. And the M12 oscillating tool makes more sense with the three cell batteries in my opinion.
Dumb question: for the beginner diyer who just wants to cut some wood in their garage, what's a recommmended set up ?
A circular saw is enough for most diyer. But there are times you need also a miter saw especially projects where you cut the same size of wood like fence.
I wanted to buy this m12 saw since there are times I just need a quick cut and this thing is light and portable.

One of the first things I bought aside from the drill/driver was the circular saw.
I have the wired circular saw and I want to buy something light like this m12 for those quick cuts.

Look at it this way: oscillating tool is for small cut while circular saw is for bigger cut. Two completely different application. You wont try to cut a piece of plywood using oscillating tool to burn out the expensive blades, and you wont try to cut small items using circular saw.
Oscillating tool does have the other application like sanding or some specialty blades. But if you want something that can do all kinds of cutting, big and small, the small m12 cut-off tool is actually a much better choice which can do wood, metal, and tile. Only downside is the depth of cut isn't high.

Select the 2.0Ah bundle and you should see the hackable price in cart.
