What can you use this for in reference to DIY?
For DIY get a DC bilge pump that runs directly off a solar panel. Add two glass sheets, vynl siding, a drain valve, a plunger float filler valve, a condensation catch trough, black paint on bottom glass, rtv to seal gaps, and a catch can to place the pump into. Then run the discharge from the pump to a series of 50 gallon barrels with a hose bib attachment. And a 3 way valve for selecting city water vs distilled stored water. Attach pressure washer and now you have a spot free rinse for your car.

Are we talking about regular home hot water heaters? What are you guys doing wrong? Forgetting to turn off the water supply? Or not opening the safety relief to break the vacuum? A 50 gallon takes 5 minutes to drain. Done tons of them.
not when they have tons of sediment built up in the bottom

I plan on using this to supplement draining my flooded yard. I'm using a graco paint sprayer mesh filter and noodle on the end of the suction hose to keep from sucking up large debris.

So you've done tons of them and never had one full of sediment?

Interesting.

I am planning to use it to cycle water slide water from the "pool" section to the "slide" section - so the water stays warm for the slide. That is how they do it in water parks. Wonder if I can run an instant water heater in between. I have an immersion transfer pump which goes inside the pool but that is an electric shock danger.
Loud and drains batteries like crazy. Not a great use case.

I wonder if this could be used as the pump on a tank sprayer like you use on an ATV or small tractor? Or would it not have enough pressure? Would love to have an M18 powered version that I could easily take indoors to prevent freezing in winter.
I've powered a pressure washer with one.

Thinking similar for draining the pool… pool pump works to a certain level then struggles to get pressure when low enough

Batteries do not last long with this. We have one at work to drain out small containments for valves. It will take 3 5ah batteries to drain a ~3ft diameter 5 ft deep containment and roughly an hour or so.

A note for others. Easiest way to use the hack is to talk to customer support on their website. I have done it both in store and online. Online people care a lot less in my experience. Then you schedule for somebody to come pick it up from your home. This is what I did. Easy peasy.

My experience in the hack is to order the items in different locations. I go ahead pick the item that I want to keep then cancel the other item that I don't want (i.e. the battery) online and I'll get the refund in my CC automatically in a couple of days.
