If you follow the market closely, we are teetering on a recession. Sounds like these didn't sell well and they have a massive inventory. $20-$25 seems to be the sweet spot to get rid of inventory yet not lose your ass on the failed launch of a product line
At this price, I wouldn't be surprised if they just gave them away to some small distributor in order to clear out their warehouse rather than pay for disposal. They're clearly intentionally gimped firmware wise in order to not compete with their actual money making products.

Question is why is Linksys dumping a seemingly high end router at such cheap prices? ok even if it's not high end, for ordinary residential usage, they specs are really good. There's got to be excess inventory or something's effed up with the router.
So I bought two anyway.
There's a post on the openwrt forum explaining the likely reason. Basically, these were originally targeted for corporate work at home with Fortinet VPN built in and cost something like $500-$600. That market never took off. So these had the fortinet branding removed and firmware without Fortinet was made. And now they're dumping the units.

NOPE
If you look at the seller info it's Sonen. OpenWRT users have confirmed that's the units they ordered on Amazon and woot are shipped from the same company.
So it pretty much comes down to how much you trust Walmart's problem resolution handling with third party sellers if there's an issue.

What is the length of the cord on the AC Adaptor? I plan to put the router on a top shelf of a computer desk, about 5 feet high.

Also, is this an 802.11 A C router? only mentions A.

Does the ap mode support vlan tagging?

When fully stretched taut, the cord length is exactly 5 ft from where it attaches to the power brick to the end of the sliver tip where it plugs into the router. You'll need to take into consideration the bending of the cord to fit into the router though, maybe 1.5 to 2 inches.

I have a whole house full of these and it's been a struggle. When you get them working in AP mode they are solid. As a mesh they are fine, but the software is really bad. It's hard to connect to them and make changes via the web. The mobile app is flaky. As a single router, or two for a small house it is absolutely fine, and a great deal. Wanting them to do anything outside of that is a struggle. Fingers crossed for a better openwrt.

Got one. It works great as a standalone. The AX improved the WiFi speed noticeably.

One trick is to create a separate networks for 2.5 and 5 hz and connect to just one. Otherwise the devices needlessly try to switch and cause response lag.

Linksys says the ln1301 does not work with their app. You were able to get the app to work with it?

There are options to avoid the poor stock fw. Third party fw options like Openwrt are maturing nicely for it.

FYI these don't work with the existing mesh router ecosystem. https://store.linksys.com/support...eNum=59245

I wanted to extend mine and have second thoughts now.
