Yes, the non-inverter Firman uses 8 gallons of gasoline in 12 hours, minimum. This uses 4.32 gallons in 12 hours.

This is also ~6-8 db quieter.

FWIW, I purchased this last year, also on sale at $999. When I received and unpacked it, the thing had cracked and detached panels all around. Oddly, the carton & packing was in excellent condition; so can't imagine it being shipping damage (more likely shoddy QC). Back in the box it went, and started the shipping return process (which wasn't easy).
Even tried reaching out to Aipower, but never heard back, so that was my first and last time with the brand.

Hopefully a better experience for you, just wanted to share.

I find it odd, unless I'm just missing it on the Costco page, that it only shows the peak wattage output, not the running output. You have to look at the one image to see the real output
Gas - Peak 7100, running 5700
Propane - Peak 6400, running 5100

It does sound like a good price for a dual fuel invertor generator, not sure about the brand reliability though. If I didn't have a generator, I'd really look into this one!

I've heard that recommendation before.

No way in heck am I doing that for something that will only be used a few days a year.

If you use propane/NG instead of gasoline the concern of gumming the carb is eliminated.
You're right - you should only start/run it in that crucial moment you need it and hope it works

As a Floridian, yes, that's exactly how it works.

My generator hasn't been used since last year. I'm about to start it up, or try to. If I need to I'll just rebuild the carb.

Does it run on natural gas?
I'm pretty sure there has to be a kit for it to run on nat gas . I have a genmax dual fuel that PNG technology made a kit for it to run on nat gas and it runs great

This would have been better than the Firman deal if there was a NG kit. Based on reddit discussion, there is only one person claiming they converted but didn't supply any useful information. It is an inverter and also the noise level is much lower.

Lol. Give me a break. Who the heck do you know that would follow this schedule in the real world.

More important than the noise is the power quality and lower fuel usage. Sensitive electronics do not like noisy power that comes from non inverter generators.

Right but what I am hearing the only thing that doesn't like it is a UPS nowadays. People seem to be running everything with a traditional generator without any problems, though I am not sure if that does do any harm that is not obvious.

Also the other thing is that I have solar that back feed the grid without any battery. I hear that the solar microinverters sense if the power is not clean as grid, they don't back feed. If that is true, using traditional generator might make installation a lot easier in solar setups. Though I wonder if inverter generators can simulate the grid, I don't have much idea in that and electricians I talked to didn't have any idea as well.

I connect the firman to natural gas. Which helps when natural disaster occurs. Natural gas never runs out

Saves fuel if your using less than about 30 percent power. It'll use more fuel if your using more power.

Don't forget to use fuel stabilizer if you don't plan to us it often

one of the best values out there and equally important is the costco return option if needed. only once has this been at a lower price, back in december it was $899 one time. since then i haven't needed it for "real" use, but no problems at all. and less quiet then most.

That is what I did with my mower. Every year cleaned it out and got it working in under 10 minutes. Wasn't hard at all.
