This was FP at $25 from Woot, Amazon, and Walmart (third party). It's back at $20 at Walmart (third party) [walmart.com]. The third party seller business name (click Johhny B Goods for info) is Sohnen Enterprises, Inc. OpenWRT forum members have confirmed that Sohnen where units ordered on Woot shipped from too.

The LN1301 is the non-mesh non-app version of the MX4200. OpenWRT support is in the works and bootlogs there show that it's actually better than the MX4200 because it has 1GB flash and 2GB RAM [openwrt.org]. The PCB assembly otherwise looks the same as the MX4200v1. The difference in flash and RAM likely means that trying stock MX4200 firmware won't work though. OpenWRT will be more up to date and offers a lot more features including mesh, vlans, etc.

OpenWRT dev progress has builds that can be flashed and it runs. However, more work is needed for it to work with both partitions so that when you reboot or there are boot failures it doesn't flip back to the stock FW.

It's 2x2 AX on 2.4GHz and one 5 GHz radio. The other 5 GHz radio is 4x4. It is Qualcomm IPQ8174 based and has 4 gigabit ports and 1 USB 3 port.

Definitely a work in progress. No one should get this thinking they can just upload an OpenWRT image when they get it and have a great router. Better to wait if not a tinkerer and familiar with using SSH.

Based on reports from Openwrt forum posts the orders at Amazon / woot are also shipped from Sohnen.
So it comes down to which shopping platform you prefer.

For all of you asking about mesh support, the main dev of the NSS enabled fork of openwrt has posted he's running 5 mx4300 units in a mesh with his build.

Openwrt development has proceeded to the point where both partitions can work now.

Also there will likely be a second third party firmware option. Dd-wrt support is being worked on too.
