No. For AM4 5700X3D is what you should be looking at or used 5800X3D

The difference in performance isn't worth the price and it isn't even close.

In my opinion, certainly not. But, I like to buy a year or two old tech and I usually keep it several years. I don't buy until there is a big leap at a moderate price.

I'm on a $90 i3-12100 now and replace it with either a 13700 or a 14700 in 1-3 years for about $200. Usually it's some GPU purchase that guides my need for more processor. If you a zipping files, editing videos, and getting great graphics then consider what you are trying to achieve.

2 more cores, with a higher base clock.
5800x is the best AM4 chip for games that focus heavily on clockspeed, unless you count the 5800XT which *just* came out.
If you're playing more modern games you might want the 5800X3D which is gonna perform better in games that will utilize the extra cache.

5700x3d is like $152 bucks on AliExpress... Just have to wait a couple weeks or so for delivery.

I'd actually ignore the upgrade suggestions and save that money for an AM5 upgrade.

For gaming I would get the x3D, for desktop use the more energy efficient 5700x

Nope. You'd be better off upgrading to a modern platform for real performance improvements. Obviously that would require a new motherboard and DDR5 too, so you may want to save up, but the performance leap will be much higher.

5700x3d 💯 it's gonna blow the doors off of what the 5800x can do and it's really close to the performance of the 5800x3d, for much less $$ which is always at the top of the charts when it comes to gaming benchmarks

Not likely... but from a 2600X or 3600X I'd say yes!

No. Save that money for GPU or next (next) gen Ryzen

No, aside from what everyone else has already said, the 5800x has a higher TDP and needs more advanced cooling and will draw more electricity for little extra performance

I paid twice as much for my 5800X back in 2021 so I would consider this a deal.
