Details
Get a $5 statement credit by using your enrolled eligible Card to make a single purchase of $15 or more using McDonald's Mobile Order & Pay via the McDonald's mobile app by 9/27/2024. Limit of 3 statement credits (total of $15).

Offer Terms
Enrollment limited. Must first add offer to Card and then use same Card to redeem. Only U.S.-issued American Express® Cards are eligible. Limit 1 enrolled Card per Card Member across all American Express offer channels. Your enrollment of an eligible American Express Card for this offer extends only to that Card. Offer valid only on food orders paid for through the McDonald's mobile app for in-store, drive-thru, curbside pick-up or delivery service booked through the McDonald's app. Valid at participating McDonald's locations in the US that offer Mobile Order & Pay. Excludes orders placed for delivery through third party apps. Not valid for any other purchases made in-store, online, or through third party services. Qualifying purchases must be made directly through the McDonald's mobile app. You must first load your Card to the app using a compatible device in order to qualify. Offer is non-transferable. Valid only on purchases made in US dollars. Limit of 3 statement credits (total of $15 back) per Card Member. You may not receive the statement credit if we receive inaccurate information or are otherwise unable to identify your purchase as qualifying for the offer. For example, you may not receive the statement credit if (a) the merchant uses a third-party to sell their products or services; or (b) the merchant uses a third-party to process or submit your transaction to us (e.g., using mobile or wireless card readers); or (c) you choose to make a purchase using a third-party payment account or make a purchase using a mobile or digital wallet. Purchases may fall outside of the offer period in some cases due to a delay in merchants submitting transactions to us or if the purchase date differs from the date you made the transaction (for example, the purchase date for online orders may be the shipping date). Statement credit will appear on your billing statement within 90 days after 9/27/2024, provided that American Express receives information from the merchant about your qualifying purchase. Note that American Express may not receive information about your qualifying purchase from merchant until all items/services from your qualifying purchase have been shipped/provided by merchant. Statement credit may be reversed if qualifying purchase is returned/cancelled. If American Express does not receive information that identifies your purchase as qualifying for the offer, you will not receive the statement credit. Limit 1 enrolled Card per American Express Card online account. The enrolled Card account must be active, not past due, canceled, or have a returned payment outstanding to receive statement credits. Any benefit earned from this offer is in addition to the rewards (i.e. Membership Rewards or cash back) earned as part of your existing Card benefits, but your ability to earn spend-based rewards for the purchase will be based on the amount after any statement credit or other discount is applied. Amex Offers are available for varying and limited periods of time and are dynamic and personalized. If you navigate away from the Amex Offers page, you may see different offers when you return. For questions regarding your Card Account, please call the number on the back of your Card. By adding an offer to a Card, you agree that American Express may send you communications about the offer.

I'm not sure that would work (I assume you mean your Amex Card (with the offer loaded) as part of your Apple Pay)???

Per some of the term:

Qualifying purchases must be made directly through the McDonald's mobile app. You must first load your Card to the app using a compatible device in order to qualify.

Personally, if I was to use this offer, I would ensure the Amex card I have with this offer is loaded as a payment method, in the the McDonalds app, and just pay directly to the card vs. using Apple Pay.

Reading is fundamental, not going to work unless you directly use your Amex card; "(c) you choose to make a purchase using a third-party payment account or make a purchase using a mobile or digital wallet."

I think the charge will appear differently. Not sure about Apple Pay but Paypal won't charge as McD.

I don't think I've ever spent $15 in a single purchase at McD. Shows you how I roll ...

You are not alone. I can't remember the last time I spent $10 in one transaction at Mc.D's.

I think, most of us true SD'er figure ways to get the best deal on something, including stopping into Mc'D's for a quick bite. I probably only stop in McD's, maybe once or twice a month. And I'm usually just using one of their in-app offers anyway and ordering one or two things. (note, I rarely drink pop/tonic (sugar water drinks)).

Even when on the road, and we make a quick stop at McD's drive-thru, both the wife and I each order separately on the app to maximize our savings.

I was somewhat hesitant to post this deal, as I don't even know if I'll use it unless McD's has some special coming up (maybe $2 Sausage Egg McMuffins or something) and I get a chance to buy something for 2-3 people to eat. But posted it anyway, as I know some will easily go over $15 on an order...and figured someone could benefit.

Order something small and most of the time on the receipt there is an offer for BOGO on any sandwich when you complete a short survey. So, always ask for your receipt after ordering.

This is exactly how I did it the last time the offer was available and got the credit after buying a GC at the counter. Does Apple Pay have direct integration into the McD app's IAP? Google or Samsung Pay don't.

FWIW, I can't see anything in my AmEx online transaction history that overtly tags the charge as IAP. But there is precedence of AmEx somehow knowing if the exact terms were fulfilled or not even if we SDers couldn't figure it out based on the visible charge details (for e.g. Offer valid only when buying Premium at Exxon/Mobil.)

It's been a long time since I've been in a McD's...I generally stick to drive thru.

Actually, the last time I think I was in one...there was a bunch of neighborhood kids in there - just as there was when I was a kid...many, many years ago!! LOL

When I was a teenager, we had a friend who worked there...and would make HUGE ice cream sundaes for us...with quadruple the amount of Carmel topping and nuts... LOL

My anecdata point: all credit card offers have this "mobile wallet" disclaimer, but I've yet to find one that didn't work because Apple Pay was used instead of a "real" card number. Reduces uncertainty to just do the latter, of course, but that's more hassle and attack surface for the inevitable retailer data breach.
