AdGuard filters website based on the filtering lists you enabled, and allow cosmetic filtering (aka, removing ads from a webpage when both loaded from the same source). AdGuard Home does DNS filtering and don't do cosmetic.
PiHole - ad block at home
Revanced (or SmartTube for TV) - ad free youtube (android only)
ublock origin - Firefox, browser based ad blocker
I find I need to use all of these to block all ads... and a few still get by.

The reason that I have stopped using Adguard (paid) version because of many sensitive services (apps, software, websites) refuse the connection while Adguard is ON.
I have a Boox Tab Ultra C and installed the app on it. It makes browsing the web so much better on an eink device since it strips out all the bullshit that bogs it down.
