The two software works together while you are in your home.
AdGuard filters website based on the filtering lists you enabled, and allow cosmetic filtering (aka, removing ads from a webpage when both loaded from the same source). AdGuard Home does DNS filtering and don't do cosmetic.

If you have the ability to build/configure a Raspberry Pi computer, go with Pi-Hole.

ublock origin - Firefox, browser based ad blocker

I find I need to use all of these to block all ads... and a few still get by.

Yes. This is their OS based software that does cosmetic filtering, not the AdGuard Home product that does DNS, which is always free like Pi-Hole.

So I do network wide blocking as well, but I used Adguard for my mobile devices when not at home. Are you running your cellular data usage through your house when outside the home to get the same functionality?

I know you didn't ask me directly, but I usually connect to my home network with a wireguard VPN running on my router to DNS filter my traffic with my AdGuard home also running on my router.

I think AdGuard on mobile creates a local VPN, so don't think you can connect to that as well as a remote AdGuard home or pihole for dns filtering as well. But I could be wrong. Just my understanding.

This is the weak link of Adguard: use local VPN.
The reason that I have stopped using Adguard (paid) version because of many sensitive services (apps, software, websites) refuse the connection while Adguard is ON.

I might buy another one since I've maxed out the machines on my other lifetime. I love this thing, turn it on and literally nothing gets through.

I have a Boox Tab Ultra C and installed the app on it. It makes browsing the web so much better on an eink device since it strips out all the bullshit that bogs it down.
