Polyester and other synthetic fibers don't breathe as well or drape as nicely as wool which is one of the standards for nice suits. You can find nice polyester pieces. For my first manager job I had a few tailored Kenneth Cole polyester suits that were fine. I've since upgraded to wool suits. People just throw out that polyester = bad because it's a generalization that is mostly accurate or personal bias. Construction of the fabric is also very important as well, I had some Target dress
Pants 5-6 years ago that were polyester but nicer and softer than my more expensive suit pants. Sadly they don't make pants like that anymore.

So, if you infrequently use suits or want to test the waters, a cheap polyester is fine. If you are going to wear them on the daily, Wool is better.
But at the end of the day, always stick with that feels best within your budget.

If you live in Or near downtown LA you can get nice starter wool suits for a good price in the fashion district.

I feel like lot of these comments are missing the point of a suit like this. If you wear a suit daily, or heck even weekly, this suit wouldn't be what you're looking for. I would think that would be a given but the comments show otherwise. This suit is for the guy who has a wedding a couple of times a year and wants to slightly step up from the usually dress shirt and slacks they they've probably worn to the last 3 weddings.
Exactly why I bought these last time this promo was available. $125 for a suit that will be used once in a blue moon and looks decent is perfect in an "I-need-a-suit-now-emergency" situation.

I got the grey for my last vacation trip, fit was spot on and material is nice. In comparison to my $700 suit, it matches all its features with cheaper materials but this is a very good compromise suit to an occasion. I won't get upset if it's damaged or gets dirty.

Edit: I was mistaken about the price, $103 for a full suit from a reputable brand with Costco's backing is pretty slick, even if it's not the best quality.

I still contend that if you wear a suit regularly, you should spend the extra money to get a good wool one. But if you're like a lot of folks who only have suit up once in a blue moon, it may not make sense to spend several hundred dollars on one. You could certainly do worse than this deal.

I could be wrong but I think because the material is less breathable making it hotter. Also it is cheaper too. I am not a suit snob myself, I could care less what others think of my suit I wear maybe once or twice a year to a wedding. Also a majority of people probably think the same way unless they are wearing those 100% non synthetic material suits.
That's always the conception, but I still sweat in a wool suit too if it's warm enough anywhere.

I will see just looking at a wool suit and one mad of polyester (I've owned both), I can definitely see a visual difference between the two. Better off just going wool imo. It looks nicer and it will last whereas the cheaper stuff probably won't.

Quite a few reviews said the material and the tailoring are not good. Went with the Nautica black suit instead for about $10 more. Much better reviews

Both suits don't fit the model well. Probably not going to look any better on me. Just seems like a bad cut, unless your shoulders are weirdly narrow.

100% plastic. Maybe worth it as a funeral suit if black is available, otherwise complete garbage
For attending a funeral or being the guest of honor? Guess you don't have to worry about being hot, unless you been really bad.

$200 for a polyester suit is a fair price if you only need a suit to wear once or twice a year. But I don't know if I would call it slick.

If you wear a suit more frequently spend the extra money to get a good wool one. It's worth it.
Good news then, because it is half that. I bought for a similar price like a month ago. I am a smaller guy so it was nice I could buy off the rack and it fits well. I don't expect to take over Wall Street with it, but if I have a clean well fitting suit to swap in once a year or so, it is a good price.

I literally just took a director's level position where starting to need to wear suits during formal meetings with executives. I've been a construction grunt my whole life. Why are these materials bad? serious question.

I have a pair of Rayon pants from Jos. A Bank and i love them, they just require a lot more care than my normal work pants.
Congrats on the new position! My advice for you is that if you need something right away it might be fine to get a cheap poly suit as a placeholder and have a rotation option, but generally you'll be thankful for getting a wool suit and especially for getting something tailored for you rather than off the rack.

Unfortunately that raises the price of what you're looking at and assuming you want more than one (so you're not always in the same suit in front of the executives) it can get costly quickly. So you need to balance your need with your budget.

But higher quality wool suits will last longer and look better than off the rack poly. And shopping around and finding deals on them you can get good deals too.

I have some polys in my closet that I bought on a whim (they're good for backups sometimes) and I basically never end up wearing them because I don't like how they feel or fit.

Also, make your first suit black. It's going to blend in and if you wear it twice in a die nobody will think twice. Anything else it might get noticed. Not the end of the world, but just gets you more mileage early on.

D'oh. I read it at $103 each b/c it's separates. But $103 for full suit is hard to complain about, even if it isn't the best quality.

Also everyone wants a 750$ suit for 27 dollars. Good and cheap are rarely synonymous.

How can I mute Costco deals? I'm sick and tired of seeing the same BS "deals" that Costco employees are posting on this site.
