Portable induction is much faster and more convenient for heating coffee tea beverages and soups.
Portable induction is much faster and more convenient for heating coffee tea beverages and soups. It doesn't require tedious cleaning, it takes up far less shelf space and it is silent. I did need to invest in a 2 qt Atlantis covered sauce pot to achieve optimal results like holding water at 175 for brewing green tea and being able to keep warm and simmer. PIC saves $$$ on energy with the ability to fry in 12" pan. Rarely turn on the stove anymore even with cooking every meal from scratch.
So what about frozen foods? They will cook in the covered saucepan but Instant Pot is faster at 15 minutes. *The trick is to -dry- steam roast using the covered pot-in-pot method. Quality is improved with the even heating. Food stays warm without drying out until you are ready to eat it. Exposure to chemicals in plastic or paper packaging is eliminated. Effortless clean up, no sticking just rinse.
Microwave ovens are getting relegated to public spaces like break rooms. Studies have shown that they encourage unhealthy eating particularly when it comes to consuming excess sodium and excess quantities of highly processed food.
Stuff may be more disposable now than ever, but no company would survive on a 1-year replacement cycle. The sweet spot seems to be 7-10 years for most appliances, compared to 30+ years in the prior generation. There's both good and bad in that.
