16awg would handle 15 amps with ease. The cord would likely not even register on a thermal camera. I welded with a 100' 16/3 cord when I lived in an apartment and had to get to work. Welded for about 30 minutes. The cord never got warm whatsoever. I was told I needed to get a 10/3. I simply couldn't afford that. I also ran a 1500w heater on the same cord overnight. The cord was slightly above ambient.

I have serious doubts about that "next generation" plug design. Any time you have two plastics like that, it increases the chance of cracks in the seals allowing moisture and dirt in, or boring old differentiating material thermal contraction and expansion inducing joints. Putting a hole in the plugs may not be the best idea ever.

But it's only $7 so whatever.
