I think I recall the best deal on the M2 Macbook Air was $1200 for equivalent configuration (16GB/512GB) and this was AFTER the M3 was released. It probably makes sense to spend the extra $50 bucks and get the newer M3 for marginally better performance, dual external monitor support, and 2 extra GPU cores. The extra year of warranty and generally great customer support from Costco tips this over the edge.

The real question is if Costco will retroactively let me upgrade to the "Executive membership" even though I bought this on "gold" level. Cheers!
I would suggest looking for a used 16gb macbook air m1 or m2 on facebook marketplace. if you are patient you can snag one for half the price of this (I got mine for $650 last summer and has barely lost any value)

editing with an unrelated question of my own. i have a m1 air with a busted screen. i haven't used it since replacing but obviously it still has some value. anyone have thoughts on the best thing to do with it? is there a reputable non-apple repair? (since i think apple would charge more than it's worth). or should i try to sell it (ebay/offer up) as is, or else maybe try to wait for any time with boosted trade in value if that comes?
