Still overpriced but it's how apple usually is. Glad to see finally a MacBook air deal that has more than 8gb memory lol

Available on Amazon for the same price, but I believe with Costco you get extended warranty included.

Agree with this, I've been following M2 and M3 Macbook Air deals for a while and except for the rare YMMV deal (e.g. Microcenter price matching), a $250 discount vs the more common $200 discount is the best deal most of us can reasonably get.

I think I recall the best deal on the M2 Macbook Air was $1200 for equivalent configuration (16GB/512GB) and this was AFTER the M3 was released. It probably makes sense to spend the extra $50 bucks and get the newer M3 for marginally better performance, dual external monitor support, and 2 extra GPU cores. The extra year of warranty and generally great customer support from Costco tips this over the edge.

I went to the Best Buy to buy MacBook Air, but after going there, I have compared the display and speakers of MacBook Air and MacBook Pro and finally, I have decided to go with MacBook Pro base model 14 inch M3 8 GB Ram 512gb with the top quality display and speakers even though it went up $400
So here I got more SSD, top quality speakers and top quality display and 1 inch more size then compare to MacBook Air base model M3
When I bought this, MacBook Pro 14 inch M3 was 1299 and MacBook Pro M3 Pro was 1599

bro... why didn't you get the mbp m3pro 18gb/512gb 14" ???? it's 1599... no one should be buying the regular m3 14" 8GB ......

edit: just checked and it's back up to 1699, but it was literally just 1599 yesterday... even at 1699, it's insanely better than the mbp m3 at 1599 ????? you just scammed yourself due to ignorance. you have 14 days to exchange it... for $100 more.. it's a braindead obvious exchange.

Grabbed this direct from the apple store for the same price. As a bonus, if you want to get Applecare, apple is actually cheaper than Costco's already reduced Applecare rate.

There are absolutely legitimate reasons to stick with the M3 over the M3 Pro, but the real issue here is only 8gb RAM in a MacBook pro. It's 2024. No one should be buying a MacBook pro with only 8gb ram. I'd argue to get 16gb in the air and mini as well, but for basic use 8gb is okay for some. Example, I was looking at a Mac mini to run as a home file server and streamer. 8gb is perfectly fine for that use case, while 16gb would provide more future headroom.

when it was previously the exact same price? only a few days ago? 14" m3 8/512 for 1599 vs 14" m3pro 18/512 for 1599?? in the context of my post... what is the legit reason to stick with the m3? even now.. it's a $100 diff for 14" m3 8/512 for 1599 vs 14" m3pro 18/512 for 1699? m3pro also having much much better cooling (2 fans vs 1) and higher mem bandwidth.. as well as an addition usb c port on the RIGHT side (important if you want/need to charge and need access on the right side). I don't see the legit reason, in the context of my post, to go with the m3 vs the m3pro model... other than consumer ignorance.

When I bought base model pro in M3, it was 1299 and Pro M3 Pro was 1599 . And the thing I want to let you know why I bought base M3 chip, if you check all the Google reviews that user posted M3 pro is not long lasting when you compare to M3 chip. that is why Mac air models are long lasting than pro models.

well your price makes more sense.. shoulda said that. 1299 is a lot less. that's not terrible.. still, apple shouldn't have 8GB base in a "pro" model at all.. greedy

as for your conclusion about the m3 last longer vs the pro.. that's complete nonsense lmfao. [assuming you're talking about lifespan]. m3 chips haven't even been out that long. there would be riots on youtube content creator channels if that was even slightly true lol. truly... actually think about it.. that makes 0 sense. but i'll let you believe what you want. to each their own. Now if you're not being clear and you mean 'last longer' as in BATTERY LIFE? then I could see that being true.. since ppl who are buying the regular m3 are doing less with their laptops.. ergo, doing less would equate to using less power which means 'longer' battery life. that would make sense. ppl with m3 pro and m3 max would be doing much more intense work which obviously means more power draw which means less battery life.

Personally, I'd still get the air 16GB config vs a 8GB "pro" model.. I think 16GB will allow the laptop to last longer... but again, to each their own.

Costco no longer allows AMEX cards to be used.
I was able to use my Amex with costco same day via instacart. Ordered MacBook air for $1262.99 via Instacart ($13 more than in warehouse) and used $10 off $50 costco sameday coupon to negate some of this instacart marked up price. Not bad, not stepping in store, still able to use Amex and have it delivered in 2 hrs at home. Can't be happier!

Hopefully X1 laptops with 16gb/1tb will push M3 Laptops 16/512gb down to $1000 and 8/256gb to $700.

Apples ARM advantage is weakening for good as AMD Zen 5 and Intel Island Cores get going just as good battery life.

Anyone have an idea when the Air might get a refresh in terms of the look of it?
m4 chip is already out in iPads so it should be coming to laptops sooner rather than later as ipad sales are sluggish comparatively.

The MacBook Pro with the M3 chip generally has better Geekbench scores than the MacBook Pro with the M2 Pro chip due to architectural improvements, enhanced efficiency, and performance gains in the newer M3 chip.

Here's a comparison based on reported Geekbench scores:

MacBook Pro with M2 Pro Chip:

• Single-Core Score: Approximately 1,900 - 2,000
• Multi-Core Score: Approximately 12,000 - 14,000

MacBook Pro with M3 Chip:

• Single-Core Score: Approximately 2,800 - 3,100
• Multi-Core Score: Approximately 15,000 - 18,000

Key Differences:

• Single-Core Performance: The M3 chip shows a significant improvement in single-core performance, making it faster for tasks that rely on single-thread processing.
• Multi-Core Performance: The M3 also outperforms the M2 Pro in multi-core tasks, though the difference is more noticeable in specific workloads like video rendering, software development, and other professional tasks.

Overall, the MacBook Pro with the M3 chip is the better choice if you're looking for the highest performance, especially if your work benefits from increased single-core and multi-core speeds
