There's a USB C to 4.5mm Laptop Charging Adapter for Dell laptops on Amazon for $13. Can anybody comment if it's worth buying? Thx.

This seems like the laptop that's offered at Mizzou for $250 right now, which would be pretty close to the same deal as this with the 10% discount.
Reminder for incoming college students, check with your university for some nice deals, especially if your state has tax free weekends. If they didnt have a limit of 1 deal per student, I would be flipping a bunch of Lenovo ThinkPads right now.

I think this is a good deal with Amex offer of $50 cash back with $250 purchase. I might buy it for my daughter as I bought her a slightly cheaper laptop(Asus Vivobook) at Bestbuy but this one has 15.6 vs 14 inch, IPS screen vs TN and has x4 storage 512gb vs 128gb with same processor and memory.

Can you elaborate? How would a student get those deals?

Usually through the bookstore. But if your university uses a 3rd party like Barnes and Noble, you might have to ask around. Also "through the university's portal" is what I was just told. University's web site you order things through. You should have got information when you enrolled and got the list of the items you need to order, like books. The bookstore is who I had to go through back in the 90's also, when I got my first laptop. It was with my book order and I received it the same time I picked up my books. A gray Toshiba Satellite that weighed a ton.

Edit: He also said the HP laptops on the university page links you to hp.com that applies a discount automatically when you click through the University's portal, but the shipping dates on those were 2 - 3 weeks out and was afraid he wouldnt get it in time.

There is an option for 2x8GB so you can add extra ram.

I love how no one offers assistance on whether or not the specs are good for anyone coming in.. it's just 'no usb C' lol lots of parents are trying to reup their kids and all y'all are talking about is an easy to remedy issue like buying a $10 adapter
For me, the non-backlit keyboard is the reason not to get it.

Damn, I was looking to see if there were 2 memory slots and was scrolling and saw a picture of the hinge design.... damn.

This terrible design where the bottom of the display bezel goes under and lifts up the back of the laptop is awful, and should be avoided at all cost unless you plan to keep the laptop always open.

I have this laptop and it's garbage. No usb c. Shit speakers, battery runs out fast, you need to press 4-5 times the power button for the laptop to turn on when unplugged from charger.
