I'm running a local server for a few web projects, have tons of browser tabs open, word, photoshop, excel, and my M1 Pro with 16GB ram doesn't hiccup. I feel like if you have to ask, it's just a waste of money

I bit on this offer. Got an offer for $25 in bonus rewards for Best Buy Plus membership as well. The M4 Pro will probably start at $1999 for a little while at launch.

Is it worth the upgrade from 14" M1 Macbook Pro for $950?

No unless you need the GPU and slightly improved battery. M4 looks promising on future proofing with all the aiaiai they're advertising

I'm trying to decide whether to upgrade from M18/256 Air with 85% battery life.

This or the Macbook Air M3 16GB RAM for $1250

The only downside to these beasts is the weight. One fall and its over! Not too mention too heavy to carry around casually at the cafes.

Very much trying to decide this myself. I don't necessarily need the processing power but it's a big discount and I have to imagine the Pro will hold its value better than the Air in terms of resale/trade-in later. If it was a $200 or $500 difference it'd be an easy decision, but $350 sits right at that "should I or shouldn't I" barrier for me.

Planning on going to the store to hopefully pick up each one in person and see what a difference it makes. My 2020 MBP Intel just isn't cutting it nowadays and is nearly as heavy as the M3 MBP, so I'm guessing I'm going to err on the side of caution and spend more...

Generationally speaking you wont feel any difference between M1 to M4. The CPU performance is negligible between generations.

The only significant improvement genreationally is actually in the GPU for workstation purposes. For Apple Silicon the biggest impartments to performance are found in just having more RAM in day to day use cases.

Yeah I'm holding off. My battery only has 79 cycles since 2021 so would be foolish to upgrade. But that space black… lol

Ive got a MBP touch i7 15" 2016 and I've been hesitant because there is no more ibooks author app available on newer IOS. Any one comment on newer Macs for writing? I also have a M4 Ipad Pro 13"…just got with touch keyboard but it just doesnt feel enough computer like…close but not yet

This would be a heck of an upgrade for you. I think the "problem" is the M1 Pro (even the base model I have) was too good so people have less inclination to upgrade

Unless you work for Apple you haven't used an M4 based MacBook Pro… none of us have

This is slightly better price than I paid by 100 or 200 bucks.
