Not sure about the edifier but I have this model and I have quite a bit of connection issues, however the sound is pretty if you don't go past 80% volume at which point this thing clips like crazy

Had the same issue with the JBL. Sometimes it would turn on via ARC, sometimes you'd have to unplug power and reset it before it would connect. Happened probably 40% of the time until I returned it.

Ive bought this new. $80 so this price isnt much of a "steal"

As for sound, nahhh. Folks, spend another $100 bucks nd get a better system. Unless you have a room all to yourself nd can not make too much noise, or dont want to make much noise, i wouldnt recommend this. Nd if thats your case, then just get some bluetooth headphones nd boom! Youre better off. Just my experience tho. This simply wont suffice any need you may want filled. Music or movies

can someone explain to me why this isn't a slick deal when I see it for the price of $199.99 on the JBL website brand new and on the Best Buy site for the same price as well?

$70 for a refurbished MK2 seems pretty good to me, is it not??

It's one of the least expensive deals I could find. I went ahead and got it for a small tv in our bedroom.

I guess this is probably a stupid question, but would a soundbar help with the issue of speech being much quieter than sound effects in movies? Or would I need a receiver to fix that?

FWIW I hope these actually last. I had a H/K sub that died in 6 years of light use. My 30 year old Aiwa is still running after replacing the sub ring. All of my electronics are in s Belkin surge protector grounded correctly. I don't think I would trust this company on a future purchase.

This sounds more like a setup issue. Is this happening on your TV speakers?

I personally don't think the 2.0 gets loud enough. Add to that, it's a little distorted at max volume. I have many JBL audio pieces (JBL 590s, extreme 3, etc) and it's by far the least impressive. Not a terrible deal at this price though.
