So I own these and these have been sitting in my closet for like 2 years. They're okay. I say for $50 it's a deal but don't expect like $400 sound. They sound like $100 headphones

every single person that hasn't thought these sound good I believe hasn't been able to get a proper seal. They are light on clamp out of the box. They do have a metal headband so they can get put in a position for most people to seal properly. Once that is accomplished I have never seen anyone complain and do nothing but praise them.
This is, imo, a great deal (they punch way above 50 when you get a good seal)... but I would strongly caution against being rough with the yoke adjuster. This is a known failure point for this style of headband, esp for the Drop branded stuff. I have had 2 4xx fail here (the band/yoke is spring steel, but the slider is plastic..they attack the plastic slider directly to the headband using self tappling screws... so eventually if you are hard on them you will work the screw out of the slider..... the only fix is to fill the holes with epoxy and retap, because the band doesn't accommodate a wider screw)
Both times they failed just out of warranty. Both times Drop basically said "uhhhh buy a new set ig?"

tempted to get them just for the earpads and headband.
Lol yeah hfm charges like 90 shipped for those pads, and the headband is subjectively comfy once you shape the top band to your melon.

There's a reason these are so cheap. I wouldn't recommend any hifiman headphone with that headband design. The yokes are held to the band with the world's smallest screws and they will break if you use it enough. My best guess is they're clearing out stock for either a new headband or to discontinue this model altogether.

I said headsets instead of headphones for a reason
But mine HP mindframe RGB gaming headset with refrigerator coolant earcap tech is the bestest. what? ..You don't like 20db boost in the bass and treble?

I have seen people replace the headband with one from aliexpress. Though I don't have a link. You can search for HE-R7DX mods on google and there seems to be a decent amount of mods for these.
Most reviews initially recommended skipping these headphones at $150, as they compared them to $100 models in terms of sound quality. However, now that they're priced at $50, they're a great buy.

Depends on the review. Cheap Audio man loved them from the get go. So did Z reviews. I have seen some reviewers say they are the non Planar version of the Sundara one of the highest rated headphones out there, but those usually sell I believe for $300 or more.

Try to find something Zeos didn't like.
