FPS shooters. Make sure to set right trigger throw from 0 to 1.
Set right joystick to true axis.
And test out joystick responsive can be instant, aggressive, or smooth. I prefer smooth.
Use the xbox accessory app to adjust these settings.

Edit: you might want to adjust joystick tension with the thumbscrew, righty tighty lefty loosy. Tighter for better precision.

No, the suffer from the same bumper and stick drift issues. But they are really nice.

Thanks bro. The real MVP right here. Saving this comment so I can set my controller later.

Are these more durable than standard controllers? My standard controller developed drift after about a year.

This is awesome thank you. I'm assuming you're not having QC issues? That's the only thing holding me back is that it appears having a defective controller is the norm not the exception.

It won't last a year even for an adult owned unit. The drift and bumper quality is sad. Google Hall effect Xbox controller.

I bought a wired hall effects controller and have completely stopped using my elite 2. I have the original elite and the elite two and it's been nothing but problems. The problems have been mostly with the bumpers. But I've heard of stick drift on these also. Never again. But if you want to risk it, this is a good price. I heard some people have very good luck with these.

Be sure to get the $20 warranty from Microsoft for 3 year coverage which you will definitely use.

Someone tell my release era Elite 2 it should be dead by now. It went from 2019 to late 2023 before the left stick developed a dead spot when pressed. Replaced the stick (admittedly difficult) and it's still going. But it went 4 years as an adult owned device before developing issues.

While waiting for me to figure out the repair on my original one, I purchased an Elite 2 core that I promptly spilled beer all over. Opened the top and cleaned out the buttons and it's fine. It's about a year old now.

Microsoft Complete with Accidental Damage Coverage can extend the warranty on an Xbox Elite Series 2 controller and console for up to three years. This coverage protects against mechanical or electrical breakdowns and accidents. It includes up to two replacements for a standard controller, or one replacement for an Elite Series 2 controller, and one replacement for the console, all without a deductible.

You can purchase Microsoft Complete when you buy your console or within 45 days of purchase. To check the warranty status of a registered device, you can sign in to Device services.

Or just go to xbox.com and search "series 2 elite warranty".

Really dying to get one but the near unanimous consensus that this controller will fail always gets me to reconsider.

Just goes to show how much profit is with this thing….

Microsoft can still produce it, sell/distribute it and handle the manufacturer warranty repairs/replacements and still turn a profit.

Retailers can still turn a profit even when handling what I assume are a massive amount of returns within the return period.

Warranty companies will still sell you a warranty on this thing and still turn a profit.

I made the mistake of buying one of these Elite controllers and it started drifting before the one that came with the Xbox. I only buy Hall Effect now. Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo need to stop cutting corners.
