Having experienced premium dyrt I'd say that it's marketed more for the novice camper. One who enjoys hipcamps and such. Otherwise for someone who's constantly on the go it's a shitty app and you're better off using google maps/earth and GaiaGPS for finding public land

I had this for a year and was pretty disappointed. Seemed a majority of dispersed camping locations were outdated or inaccurate. All private or municipal (city, state park, COE, etc) campgrounds are listed in other free apps or just Google maps. Didn't really see the benefit between the free and paid version The Dyrt.
If you're looking for dispersed camping you're better off looking on other sources or best yet, just contacting the local BLM or NFS field offices. Yes it requires a phone call or email or two, but it's better than trekking into an unknown area at dusk just to find out you are out of luck.

Just got a camper van so I will give it a shot. I appreciate that you can download the maps since a lot of where we camp in Utah and Idaho does not have reception

I would agree with this. In both cases however, the major shortcoming is that NPS sources don't update backcountry road closures, so you may end up driving for hours down a road only to have to turn back around. So annoying.

I bought this last year when it was one sale. Never used it. Just don't find it very useful but it's because of bad data not a bad app

I recommend just saving maps offline in Google maps.

In my experience, Google Maps is still the best source for camping locations.

Please don't support these types of paid apps. Tech geeks use us to map out activities, were the ones creating their app and then they sell it to others. Strava, Forktrails, etc... I helped make a ton of remote trails for them and got nothing but made some business man rich off a yearly subscription
