The 'new' (now almost a year old) Core Ultra CPU's (aka Meteor Lake) very much trade blows with AMD's CPUs in performance, battery life, iGPU performance. So you're perfectly fine getting them. Most applications end up single thread limited anyways, so the 2P+8e core design is quite good for general use.
With that said, this specific laptop is a 2in1, foldable touchscreen, so if your goal is pure performance there are better laptops that sacrifice the touchscreen for a beefier CPU in this price range, but if youre looking for a 2in1/touchscreen then this is a good deal.

I've been looking at the ideapads with AMD standard cpu 16GB and thinking if they would be better for performance? What's the opinion feedback on these new Intels with efficient cores, Only 2 performance cores?

I generally agree for 'typical' use cases.
For primary OS plus vm use case, I wouldn't recommend. I use Win11 Pro plus a Fedora Core 40 workstation guest host vm. My guess is that the Win11 Pro performance with 1P + 8E will be be tolerable (though not stellar), but a single core vm 1P (2-threads) allocation for any guest OS beyond close to bare minimum may prove frustrating. This has been my experience when I play with my number of cpu (thread) allocations.

2k display is the 1600p model with 90%+ srgb, this one has the FHD+ with 65% srgb. Looks bland specially on a 16".

I have last years 1360P + 2k display and battery lasts about 5 hours. Should be lasting 8hr or more with this super efficient core ultra 5

Can't stand the yoga hinges. If you're not planning on using it as a screen only I'd say go with slim 7

I have actually never seen a windows laptop get more than 5-6 hours of battery life - and only when brand new!

When it comes to the popular naming conventions, I agree, but technically 2k refers to the number of horizontal pixels being ~2000, which this is (1920). The popular naming would be calling a 1440p monitor 2k, but technically that is more like 2.5k (2560).

I got this last Black Friday from Lenovo but pickup from Best Buy. https://slickdeals.net/f/17069302-total-tech-best-buy-plus-lenovo-yoga-7i-16-fhd-ips-touch-i5-1335u-16gb-lpddr5-512gb-ssd-499-99?src=SiteSearchV2Algo
Total was $566 with 15% cash back, so slightly under $500. I don't use it for anything other than surfing. It's fine, not as light or expensive as LG Gram.
