Thanks! I managed to snag one for $599.99. 60 mile drive tomorrow to pick it up, but not a big deal.

Went to Kroger & purchased $600 of BBY gift cards on an Amex CC that pays back 6% on groceries. That's $36 off.

Kroger has 4x fuel points on GC purchases, so that's 2,400 fuel points from that purchase. That's 2 fill ups @ $1/gallon off, and 1 fill up @ $0.40/gallon off. Call that $48 off for a 20 gallon fill up in my truck.

$600 - $36 - $48 = $516 + tax + drive to pickup.

Not bad...

I had originally bought one of the BestBuy refurb 12.9" M1 iPads but decided it's just too big for me personally and awkward to hold. The battery health was also only 85%. For the same price I think I'll be happier with a brand new 11" with an M2. Not that the M1 was a slouch by any means, but it'll be nice having a more future proof iPad.

I personally prefer 11-in tablets. I understand it's not for everybody, but I'm pretty good at typing them on an 11-in keyboard. I've always liked smaller form factor laptops when I was younger and even had no problem using a netbook for years even when I was in grad school we're working as a professional newspaper reporter.

Maybe it was the portability I don't know. Or maybe I just didn't want to spend more money for the bigger screens but I got used to.

Sure, someday my eyes will get worse and now reconsider this, but for now it's much prefer 11-in tablets. Not only are they more portable, but they're also just much easier to hold.

Terms of the chip, I wouldn't notice the difference between the m1 and the M2 or the 8 Gen 2 and the 8th gen 3. I suppose the biggest difference might just be if we want to keep the device a long time. You get an extra your updates with the newer model.

Presumably Apple doesn't actually tell you when your stuff's going to hit the end of life. I know people that got the 20/20 iPad pro got kind of screwed because the m1 version came out like a year later they didn't get stage manager on external monitors

That was rough given that some people paid over two g's for a version of that.
I suspect that even first generation silicon M1 chips will be supported for a decent time. Those who bought Mac's in the last years of intel are in that sad boat as the intel iMacs.
The os of both had to evolve with the ARM and dedicated chip tech.

What are you folks doing about the tip? How much is a fair amount for the delivery driver?
I just ordered one and got it in two hours, I paid $8 as the tip. The $28 tip is ridiculous, you can't treat this as a normal food delivery that the tip is the percentage of the total value.

Hmmm, can order through Costco, but can't find it through Instacart for the 10% kicker with Chase offer. Tried search for iPad Pro,item number and browsing electronics category, but no luck. Anyone have any ideas?

120hz refresh rate is more important than the additional squeeze function of apple pencil pro in terms of drawing and writing. And the additional two speaker and one ultra wide cam for ipad pro

Not sure why it's a joke???
Is the tip amount too high?
I think the question "Why do we pay for the driver's tip when Costco should pay them?" is also inherent in that ridiculed comment.
