If you're looking to buy a P9, definitely do so at Best Buy over Google store:

1. BB GC has more flexibility vs. Google Store credit
2. BB will deduct taxes off your trade = more saving
3. Trade instore = no headache vs. send in trade to Google's 3rd party
4. Easy return/replacement should there be some defects. Google CS is horrid.

Check the trade in values against the Google Store. Best Buy has a better trade in for the 6a but Google a better one for the 8.

Though a $100 Best Buy gift card is better for most people than a $100 Google Store credit, so that's a factor too.

How strict are they with the model number? I have an iPhone 12 recently purchased from Straight Talk and the model number listed is "MMPT3LL/A"
In the past they never even looked at the model number when I traded in my Straight Talk / Tracfone iPhone 11s, but that could have changed.

How strict is Best Buy, with regards to trade-in phone standards? Does it have to be in excellent/like-new condition? Can it have scratches on the screen? Does it just not have to have a badly damaged or cracked front screen? And what about the back glass on an iPhone, will they accepted, if the back glass is cracked?

If someone is familiar with the Best Buy trade-in process and could share some feedback, about trade-in device condition requirements, that would be very much appreciated.

Normal scuffs and scratches shouldn't be a problem, even if you pick "good" condition … normal wear and tear is acceptable as long as it's not excessive damage. But even if you have some back damage, etc it still gives a pretty good trade value (depending on the phone). For instance, see the attached screenshot with the selected "fair" condition and "yes" to having some damage … a $690 trade value instead of $799 for the iPhone 12. But if you go to "broken" (indicating major damage), that will tank it. If the front glass is actually cracked, that would probably be bad.

how are people able to get these trade in values? I only see 265 for an iphone 12
You need to click in the picture that shows the offer of the Pixel 9. If you go through the search bar it will only give you the 265 trade-in. It is very weird, I had to do it on the computer on my phone did not work

For those of you that have an iPhone 13 it is a very high-quality phone.

But my first pixel surprised me on how well it executed everything. Google has done their homework very well. So, if the 9 is even better I don't think you will ever look back.
We have to have two iPhones in the house to communicate with one side of the family and two droids for the other.
But there are work around's that are ok for most issues. Big issue is sharing photo albums between systems. Maybe someone can jump in on this issue.

Straight up is that newer Pixels are outstanding phones.

Pixel side of the family has much less spam phone calls.

Does BB takes locked phones
Carrier-locked is fine, but they can't be password / iCloud locked.

I selected iPhone 12 Pro Graphite Verizon and the trade in confirmation says: MGLN3LL/A

My phones model number is: MGK13LL/A

It appears MGLN3LL/A is Unlocked from Apple Store, and mine is MGK13LL/A Verizon as I selected.

Is this a problem??? Very concerned!

Best Buy's website thinks MGLN3LL/A = Verizon, but in fact that is the Unlocked Apple store model number, so their website is wrong!!! https://www.techwalls.com/iphone-...fferences/

The whole thing is a mess. I have it selected iPhone 12 Pro Graphite Verizon which is MGK13LL/A but the trade in confirmation lists MGK13LL/A, which appears to be the unlocked version from Apple store that I do not have....

On previous deal on pixel 8 last month I traded different model iPhone 11, color white vs black and carrier essentially (unlocked vs TMobile) and it went fine. Phone had normal wear but nothing cracked. Clean IMEI obviously. Also traded refurbs from Straightalk before for Pixel 7 last year. Just some input for consideration.

It generally shouldn't be a problem. The reps usually just make sure it's the same basic phone as promised and simple differences like color / carrier, etc aren't usually a big deal, as others have mentioned. It's just something to be aware of as a possible complication that could arise if you get a rep who wants to be a pain. Be friendly and kind to them and most reps are perfectly happy to do the deal and send you on your way, barring any major issues.

"Hold on to your trade-in device until your new device is delivered to you.

Watch for our delivery confirmation email, which will include next steps for shipping your trade-in device."

My understanding is this is a mail in process. Last time I did this with Pixel 8 Pro, I did the deal in store including trade in. Is there a way to process the trade-in, in store instead of by mail, I'd feel much better about that, especially considering their website is wrong. During checkout, the only option was shipping.

I selected the correct phone Verizon Iphone 12 Pro 128GB Graphite, yet their website thinks that belongs to the unlocked apple store purchased iphone 12 pro 128GB graphite.

In person trade-in or mail in?

Like I said, I really don't think it should be a problem, especially if you actually chose all the right options and there's just some discrepancy on their end. It looks like trades for shipped orders are supposed to be shipped by mail also, but they might possibly have a way to do it in-store. Basically, it's not certain until it goes live, so just plan to check back then and I'm sure others will probably be trying the same thing to see if it's an option.

Another point more specific to your circumstances: while there are thousands of BB reps across across the county who may be dealing with these issues in stores and the experience could be somewhat hit-or-miss, the opposite is likely true of the mail-in situation. There will probably be thousands of phones being mailed in that all go to a very small number of processors who are probably much more familiar with what's acceptable. So if there are any discrepancies that come from the Best Buy phone database, that will likely be noticed fairly quickly and taken into account. For instance, if every person who is supposed to send model ABC in is actually sending XYZ due to that issue, that will be obvious and they'll likely take a look and realize pretty quickly that it's a perfectly acceptable trade.

What features are missing from base 9 vs 9 pro other than Ram, camera and screen?
Are all the AI stuff the same?
