Trade-in values are based not just on your trade, but also on what model you're buying. When trading an iPhone 12 / 13, you'll get the best trade value when buying a similar model of new Pixel. For example:
iPhone 12 / 13 Pro will get a $999 credit toward a Pixel 9 Pro (update: now $899 credit for 12 Pro)
iphone 13 Pro Max will get a
iPhone 12 Pro Max unfortunately does not receive extra bonus credit

Though a $100 Best Buy gift card is better for most people than a $100 Google Store credit, so that's a factor too.

Would they refund you the full amount and just cancel the $100 gift card? Is there a restocking fee if unopened and within the return period?
Edit: Upon reviewing their Return page [bestbuy.com], it seems that there is 14 days to return it, and if unopened, there is no restocking fee. Hopefully I am reading this correctly.

Another question, if I may. Is it possible to exchange the device for a different color on pickup day? I got a Black one, but now I think I want the White one. Normally I would think it would be possible with a return/re-buy, but if they don't give the full trade-in value back that would screw things up!
You do have to trade in the iPhone 12 at time of pre order but that means my total cost to get a 256gb pixel 9 with tax was $118
