IN-STORE PICKUP NOTE: If you pre-ordered a phone for in-store pickup, make sure that you check your online receipt before picking up your phone. If the full promo value shows up there, then your promo is locked in and that's the deal you will get. However, your promo trade bonus won't show up on your printed trade receipt. It may only mention your base trade value ($145 for an iphonen12, for example). If you're concerned, you should immediately check the BB online receipt for an updated summary that shows the new balance. As long as the "Order Total there is correct, you should be fine. Also, you may be charged for the full phone cost originally but that charge should be processed as a refund after a few days
Trade-in values are based not just on your trade, but also on what model you're buying. When trading an iPhone 12 / 13, you'll get the best trade value when buying a similar model of new Pixel. For example:
iPhone 12 / 13 Pro will get a $999 credit toward a Pixel 9 Pro (update: now $899 credit for 12 Pro)
iphone 13 Pro Max will get a
iPhone 12 Pro Max unfortunately does not receive extra bonus credit
Note: they now appear to be lowering the promotional values that were aimed at certain devices, so promotion values above are mostly dead. Se thead updates for any remaining promo specifics.

1. BB GC has more flexibility vs. Google Store credit
2. BB will deduct taxes off your trade = more saving
3. Trade instore = no headache vs. send in trade to Google's 3rd party
4. Easy return/replacement should there be some defects. Google CS is horrid.
Though a $100 Best Buy gift card is better for most people than a $100 Google Store credit, so that's a factor too.

So bestbuy returns the tax as well once the trade-in completes ? Any experience from last year ?
I think it depends on the state you're in. WA did return full sales tax 2 years ago when I got my S22 Ultra. I think someone said CA expects full sales tax?
When did you order exactly?
That means this is likely gone and won't be fulfilled. The pending charge will drop off tomorrow. Bad luck this time for me.

It's possible we were banned from Metro. Sucks to have to get Google voice number and mess with porting that in, but then Metro just quietly ignored the order.
I just ordered an iPhone 12 acceptable from Amazon for $282 including tax.
I've stocked up on Amazon gift cards for basically 14% off so it's effectively $242. Metro at $185 is better, but still not too bad from Amazon.
You do have to trade in the iPhone 12 at time of pre order but that means my total cost to get a 256gb pixel 9 with tax was $118

Thanks! I can confirm this.
Whole process:
Took carrier locked Straight Talk iPhone 12 64gb to store. It showed up trade in value of $145. After inputting all of the IMEI info (rep only checked condition, didn't check carrier or anything...I told him Verizon) the next page showed promotions. Rep had to find the coupon code for additional $654 off.
Total was $145 + tax (so ~$160), rep used the $145 trade in gift card to apply to the balance so all I had to do was pay taxes on the $145 (under $15 of taxes).
Then he printed out the info and also gave me a $100 gift card to take home.
