I'd give the edge to the Asus Tuf, I feel like having an i9 in a laptop versus an i7 is diminishing returns with thermal considerations in mind, and you would probably enjoy the added performance from the 4070 versus the 4060 in the HP.

I'll never purchase an another hp. Proprietary chargers and bloatware to name a few issues.
Every HP laptop I've owned that was made in the last 10 years has USB C charging, which is not proprietary.

And the bloatware is trivially easy to remove

In all fairness, most laptops with dGPU needs more power than the 100W USB-C charging allows. There is new, higher USB-C charging standards for 240W but no one seems to be using that yet.

Therefore, you can slow-charge any laptop via USB-C but some beefier laptops will lose battery faster than 100W USB-C can charge it.

And, yes, there are some proprietary USB-C OEM chargers >100W but then we're back to "proprietary" being the issue.

Curious with 10 year old HP had USB-C standard charging?

I saw this but I'm actually interested in that i9 for longevity since I'm more interested in productivity. It's almost twice as fast as that i7.

To be fair, the HP Victus I reference in the beginning of this post did not have usb-c charging

Omen is a much higher line than the Victus, generally speaking. You're sacrificing screen quality and form factor in order to get the i9 & 4060 for $1k.
Could you clarify this comment?

I won't be using the screen often (99.9% use case is drive external monitors) and I am still having a problem buying this because I agree with you.

I have done a lot of looking around, though, and if this screen is better than the $599 Walmart Victus I am returning, this Omen will be a keeper. This seems to be the best immediate deal out there if you are willing to sacrifice screen to maximize internals.

I don't see this dropping any more than maybe another $100 during Black Friday.
Why buy a laptop if that is your use case?

Because I have multiple places in my home with high-end displays (think basement office, all-season room, 1st floor nook). I work at home and like to migrate throughout the day and moving a laptop has been the answer and the current one's screen NEVER gets used. Problem is Iris Xe can't keep up with 4K 120Hz for productivity.

So, for me, it is about spending the "right" amount of money where I still consider the screen good enough and can be the least-best thing.

Just a heads up but it appears the 13900HX can suffer from the recent Intel 13/14th-gen stability issues also, probably not as widespread as the desktop parts, but something to keep in mind.
