It offers almost everything the 40 & 30 do at a much lower cost.
Performance wise with external amps the difference is minor even with the 30 imo.
It easily competes with Denon's 4800, at the very least more than the 3800 imo.
Best thing to do is look at the user manual of a AVR you are interested and see if the configuration is possible.
Since the 4800 has come down to $1300, very unlikely the 50 gets lower than this especially new.

Here is my take on those.
In short if you don't have a brand preference the 3800 is really hard to beat for the price.
If you're gonna rely on internal power then the 4800 is probably the better choice.
If you prefer Marantz's warmer sound the 50 is great at this price.
I went with the 3800 but if this was for a new one definitely would have considered it.

The Cinema 30, Cinema 40, Denon x4800, and Denon x6800 are all built in Japan.

You would have to jump up to the 50 to get Dirac option which you then pay for it on top of that.
Keep in mind that jump also gives you many more features over this.
You also get a very capable RC included and the next step up over the 60(XT vs XT32).
Having setup the 50 within my own set up and comparing Audyssey vs Dirac.
They were very comparable and would give the slight edge to Dirac, the main reason being Dirac Live Bass Control.
The Integra does not get that option, the 50 does.
The 50 has a new directional sub bass integration. It works under the same premise as DLBC and works well!
If you run more than one sub(or plan to) the Integra has parallel/mono sub outs, the 50 has 4 independent ones!
Here is a comparison of the two.
