The second one had a lot better storyline and characters (Aidan Pierce was a real uninspired and boring protagonist), a lot more interesting and flesh-ed out hacking gameplay mechanics (the drone was way more fun than the RC car), and the open world spanning the Bay Area was a lot better than their rendering of Chicago. WD1 was definitely a unique game with a lot of fresh ideas when it came out, but imo the game's main concepts didn't get fully fleshed out until WD2.

FWIW I haven't had a chance to try WD3 yet, since after playing AC Origins+Odyssey and other Ubisoft games I've gotten pretty bored of their copy/paste formula of monotonous, broad-but-shallow open world games.

I think they were both boring after about 10-15 hours.. Plus, both have about the worst driving mechanics I've seen on any PS4/5 game.. but I agree with you that WD2 was better in every aspect.. Especially the city

Whoops, meant to say broad-but-shallow! 🤣 edited to correct it lol definitely prefer broad-and-deep open world games though, some of my favorites are Witcher 3, Red Dead Redemption 2, Zelda Breath of the Wild, etc

All of the Watch Dogs games are good for different reasons. But, both Chicago and San Francisco aren't properly represented in the games. The version of San Francisco in Watch Dogs 2 is very flat, and is kind of a greatest hits of popular San Francisco landmarks. In real life, Chinatown and Japan Town are not just a street away from each other. They are about three miles away from each other. And, I realize that with technology being what it was for the PS4 and Xbox One, you couldn't have a 1:1 accurate San Francisco. But, they added all of that unnecessary Bay Area stuff that really has nothing in it, and nowhere worthwhile that you can actually go to. Which makes me wonder why they didn't scrap that stuff, and give us a totally accurate San Francisco instead.

I agree. I liked the more serious tone.. darker atmosphere.. the switch to 2.. man the main character was bad(I think most of the community disliked him too hence brining back Aiden In dlc) I also hated the hip parkour, hipster vibe.. I may have liked it if I never played 1... but don't even get me started on 3... that pile of trash. One of the worst games I've played
