For example; I have a PC monitor that has no built in speakers or HDMI eARC support and a soundbar that has HDMI in. In theory, I can simultaneously get video from the PC monitor and high quality lossless sound via HDMI on the soundbar by using the splitter.
However I'm not certain if the splitter even supports audio passthrough. I guess it's cheap enough to try my plan regardless. I'm in for one to test my half ars audio splitter idea; thanks OP.

That OREI device you linked could work if you have a TV that supports eARC, but it wouldn't work for your monitor setup. I've linked a real audio extractor in another post that handles the EDID for the display and audio system allowing all the bells and whistles to work with the latest standards. It's definitely more expensive.
A lot of TVs also only have a single HDMI 2.1 port, so having a switch might be needed in some setups.
I can confirm this as I use one with my old Yamaha RX-V765 Receiver that has no ARC and eARC or 4k video support to extract High Definition Audio formats/codecs from a Firestick 4k MAX. Without the OREI 927, I was only able to get extremely lossy Dolby Digital audio from my TV's TOSLINK port.
Also many TVs only output Dolby Digital Plus via eARC and not true lossless audio from their eARC HDMI port so you need to be careful. I encountered this problem and had to directly connect my Firestick 4k MAX to the OREI 927 which splits the 4k video and High Definition lossless audio/codecs to my TV and receiver respectively.

But since you are doing FireStick into the OREI then outputting to TV and Receiver. Can your TV's remote control the receiver volume? That's my setup and it doesn't work.
It's also HDMI 2.0 which is fine for video and the like. But new consoles like the PS5 need HDMI 2.1 support for 4K 120hz to enable 40fps mode in games. It's really weird the console doesn't just support VRR in those games. Nope it has to output a 120hz signal that just repeats three frames. I only mention this as some people might buy a nice new TV while using an older sound system and run into this issue. The eARC might work in that case.

While the OREI 927 [orei.com] is a great little affordable device for breathing new life into old audio receivers like my Yamaha RX-V765, it does have a 4K@60Hz video limit passthrough unfortunately. That shouldn't be a problem if you just want to watch 4k movies on a Firestick and enjoy HD audio on an old receiver that doesn't innately support eARK or 4k video however.
Like I said previously though and sorry to be redundant but I feel it's a pretty important point, ideally you want to connect all your 4k devices directly to a TV and have it send the lossless HD audio formats/codecs straight to your audio receiver via HDMI eARC.
But many TVs only output Dolby Digital Plus via eARC which is lossy format/codec so make sure that your TV can be trusted/has the capability of sending lossless audio.
I was fooled by my own TV and couldn't figure out why True HD Dolby audio would not be detected on my receiver even with the OREI 927 passing the extracted eARC sound directly to my RX-V765 receiver.
The issue was that my TV outputs Dolby Digital Plus and was not capable of true Dolby HD audio passthrough via its eARC jack. I was only able to get my RX-V765 to detect True HD Dolby audio by directly connecting the Firestick to the OREI 927 which then would properly split the 4k video and Dolby HD audio to my TV and receiver.

We don't use the screen in the RV much for obvious reasons, but it's nice on rainy days/nights or if there's a game I'm trying to catch.
2. These cheap splitters die young and suck with long runs. I just had one cheapo die from another brand, the second to do so. I'm now sitting pretty with my heavy duty monoprice unit. Sure, it has 8 outputs, and I only need two, but it always works every time, year after year. This is important if you actually need one of these.
