Anyone else see the side profile view of this one? Thought it looked a bit odd. Like a mushroom hanging off the wall.

Check your local utility companies website for free nest products. I got two thermostats for free a couple years ago.

I really want to know if this model have a good batt to be used with no C Wire. It`s almost impossible to find a smart one to install with no external power needs.

I installed the 3rd gen nest (which I read is better than gen 4) but I dont have c wire, it's been running perfect since 2016 September. if battery dies, google says I can replace it for a few bucks.

I mean, I literally posted this right above your comment.

Options exist. Sounds like Nest ones can work like that along with other options like this

google says 3rd is superior to 4th, they cut features to save price.

This doesn't work for me - it asks if I am in the military / education / etc to give the 10% off.
Any tricks?

You should get the C Wire, and anyone reading this you should DEFINITELY get the C Wire. Just have your HVAC guy install one when they come for yearly checkup; mine did it for free and took him like 5mins to do.

I cant, mines through multi floors into basement. has to go into the attic, and down multiple floors.

just isn't feasible, my nest has been running for 8 years, what do you mean I NEED a c wire?

Curious about this as well. Do you have a link to Google saying this? The 4th generation costs more than the 3rd generation, so I don't know how they would be cutting costs?

dont know, just was googling and ran across it.

I just went to Home Depot and bought a new 3rd gen myself for 60 OTD at Home Depot, to replace my 7-8 year old unit. 50 dollar rebate from my utility company so 10 bucks for upgrade, will keep old as back up or give it away.

but. I am interested to find out I just found out there's a nest energy adapter or what not, may try it to see if it replaces my no C wire.

Can you use the nest app for this or are you forced to use google home?
