Yup target and best buy live NOW.
Amazon is 199 dollars NOW.
Walmart still 224 dollars.

This is pretty good deal I grabbed one. I understand some people need 120hz and other cool stuff, but this product got great reviews the last few years and is good for the masses.

It's a decent deal and it works okay, but they are definitely showing their age a little bit with certain games and some content when using PIP - you'll find some slowness and such. Plex and YouTube are somewhat noticeable but It's not bad for a kids iPad or even as a primary device, but it's definitely different feeling when I use my kids vs my newer air. I think the better price point is $150 is you can find some sort of coupon or slightly used. Remember the price different between this and the next one up, and then the air. So you are probably getting the better deal for the price.

I have gotten into the habit of closing out all my OPEN browser tabs, and apps and games that go on in the background every hour or 2, so my IPAD is always zippy, before I got into this habit, my fire hd devices, and smart phones and ipad seemed to be slowing down.
I run plex on this ipad and seems zippy to me, but you have higher end IPAD too, so you would notice the difference more than me.

I bought a ipad 9th gen a few months ago, and was very happy with it, at the time I was just getting my feet wet in the apple eco-system, so figured I would start with the ipad 9th gen. I loved it so much I am buying another one today. So the outlay of 249 plus 200 for the one today gives me 2 of them for 450 dollars (reasonable to me) , one for my security cams, ... and the other for surfing or plex. We all use these devices differently, my needs are very, very simple.

I'm not into the Apple ecosystem at all.
I'm exploring tablet type devices for taking and writing notes by pencil, drawings for online meetings, and some light MS Office work.

How is this tablet for such things?
Are there better non-Apple alternatives (including 2 in 1 laptops)?

My iPad Air 2 is really slow these days. Is this a worthy upgrade?

I have the PERFECT youtube video for you.

iPad Air 2 2014 vs. iPad 9th Gen. 2021 speed test and comparison
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-kMcD-R2JyQ

let us know what you think of that video, does it make you want to get the 9th gen IPAD. yes or no

start up on ipad 9th gen is 19 seconds and on the ipad air 2 41 seconds.

later in the video he goes into the scores of the tests and the 9th gen looks very good compared to the Air 2.

200 dollars is pretty cool price for the 9th gen and 399 for Air 5th gen.
