Deal Details
UPDATE (8/28) - Last day for this deal. The phones listed below still works for trading.

UPDATE (8/25) - No new updates for trade ins. For those picking up their online orders, don't ask what your values are. Just take it and check your online invoice right after taking the phone. If it shows things are zero'd out, you're good and your refund will show up in a few days tops.

UPDATE (8/23) - Thanks to user SmartMice845 for pics of the latest trade in values (basically everything is devalued except the Samsung 23/24 Ultra and iPhone 14 Pro/Max. https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=172512819&postcount=2545

UPDATE (8/22) - From more reporting, it would seem the entire iPhone 13 lineup is devalued (base, pro, pro max). Thus for anyone who still wants in on this deal, only the 14 series and Samsung equivalents are good. Obviously those who already purchased have locked in the rates. Those who ordered online from the start of the promotion for instore pickup seem to be getting the full value without any additional tax.

UPDATE (8/21) - More than one person are reporting devaluation of the iPhone 13 > PXL 9 trade in so careful tonight if you're still planning on doing that. The iPhone 13 Pro Max > PXL 9 Pro XL is still alive.
Devices that were pre-ordered ship to home earlier are being shipped. I actually have a Pixel 9 delivered just now [imgur.com] from an instore pre-order on 8/16!

UPDATE (8/20) - It appears Best Buy have no intentions of fulfilling the "SteveIrwin" iPhone 12 $654 coupon for those who had it zero'd out on the eve of the 18th. Which is crazy they named it that since he's a famous Zoologist who died, so naming it that to say the coupon is dead is crazy. Anyways, if you still have it, I would try to get your trade in back. My store's manager kept my iPhone 12 in a separate location because he saw issues with the coupon. Returned it to me and cancelled the trade in today.

UPDATE (8/19) - looks like quite a few people are reporting their online orders getting cancelled, especially those with multiple orders or trading in an iPhone 12. No one who reported successfully trading in instore has reported cancellations yet. If you have an online order that isn't with an iPhone 12 trade in, perhaps trying going instore to "lock in" your trade and cancel the online one.

UPDATE (8/18) - they have fully devalued the iPhone 12 series. Those who attempted to trade in 8/18 at night were met with a coupon that doesn't work after they traded in their iPhone 12. Will see how Best Buy resolve a traded in phone but the coupon doesn't work. Other models listed below should still have elevated values instore. The updated terms online some people have posted is not the same terms that are present for instore documentation. Best Buy reps have an updated PDF every day and as of last night, still include everything EXCEPT the iPhone 12.

This is a previously posted deal, but trade in values online have been reduced. Higher trade in values still work in-store. Worked for me both yesterday and today.

Steps:

- Have one of the following trade ins. Carrier locked phones are fine as long as they aren't blacklisted. YMMV on exact carrier models and colors matching but I and many others have had no issues trading in a locked Straight Talk iPhone 12 and told them Verizon or Metro and T-Mobile (remove your SIM card when trading in):
Pixel 9:
Galaxy S23 Ultra ($799)
Galaxy S24 Ultra ($799)
Galaxy S24+ ($799)

Pixel 9 Pro:
Galaxy S24 Ultra ($999)
iPhone 14 Pro ($999)
iPhone 14 Pro Max ($999)

Pixel 9 Pro XL:
Galaxy S23 Ultra ($1,099)
Galaxy S24 Ultra ($1,099)
iPhone 14 Pro ($1,099)
iPhone 14 Pro Max ($1,099)
- Take your trade in to the store and ask them you want to pre-order the Pixel with said phone (don't ask for trade in value yet)
- They will ask for your phone's model and capacity and will check the IMEI that's physically on the phone (on the back of Samsung's and on the SIM tray of iPhones with SIM card slots)
- Let them proceed and they'll eventually get to this screen here: https://imgur.com/a/3tKD8kv
- Do not let them skip that screen. They will need to input a coupon code in order for this to work (they have a booklet for the code) -> Others have mentioned the code is just "GOOGLE"
- They'll print out the info, gift card for trade in value and coupon is deducted directly
- After you confirm the promo trade in value, proceed to sign away and give them your phone
- For some states like mine (WA), taxes is paid only on the after coupon price
https://imgur.com/a/naartVF

Additional info:
Phones listed should only have the value for their respective tiers. An iPhone 13 for instance will not have $799 value when trying to get a Pixel 9 Pro or Pro XL.
The $100/$200 gift cards come AFTER you make the purchase so you cannot use it to pay off the taxes. Gift cards are stackable though so if you do more than one trade in, you can use the $100/$200 gift card to pay for taxes on the second or third trade in.
You can use the previous threads to find data points from what others have mentioned are trade in values for different phones. I only listed the ones that corresponds with the models to make them free. Online trade in values are decreased so it's not a good data point for how much your phone would actually cost.

So, when I did the preorder for pixel9 with iphone 12 promo on first day, I paid with Paypal and the credit card that I used within Paypal was charged for the full amount (854.93 including tax). This was for store pickup. My Bestbuy order confirmation reflects the trade in value showing -$799. I assume if/when my order is ready for pickup and after I go to pickup, Ill receive a refund on Paypal/credit card? Is everyone else who is doing the store pickup seeing refunds on their credit card?

The issue is that you don't understand how the promotion works and most BB reps don't understand how the promotion works. There is a trade in value given by Best Buy in the form of a gift card, then they move forward in their system and a separate promotion gives you an additional amount in the form of a coupon.

The best buy reps don't see this play out until they reach the final stages of their check out process and they are told to create a gift card AND a coupon. Up until that point, all they can immediately see is whatever the initial trade in value is, not the total inflated discount with coupon. They tell this to the customer and the customer freaks out because they aren't getting the "full discount" and BB reps freak out because they think the customer is an idiot and what they are looking at is accurate.
This worked! I was turned away saying I was wrong and I told them to just buy the sale through and everything came out as it should!

Thanks for that update because I left and almost didn't go back till I seen your comment

That should be at pickup counter, not mobile.
It really depends on the store and who's there at the time. I did an online order with in store trade-in a few weeks ago for a Pixel 8 and they had me go to the mobile counter. Today when I picked up the Pixel 9 they did it right from pick-up counter (employee did have to walk to the mobile counter to get the phone from their cage). I didn't see any employees working the mobile counter today for some reason.

Just pick mines up. Ended up coming out of pocket $518. That was with the iPhone 13 pro Max 128gb. I only got 640 off with my trade plus $200 Best buy gift card
They didn't give you the coupon that prints off with the trade in paperwork or they didn't enter the promo code. You got screwed

Just got back from BB, had a great experience. No hassle. Got the Pixel 9 Pro XL and Pixel 9. They didn't even look at the phone or ask what carrier. Selected Verizon as carrier for both trade ins.

I placed preorders for both phones last week for in-store pickup and trade in and a few days ago like others I was worried they would be cancelled. Yesterday the status for both phones changed from pre-order to preparing for pickup. And this morning they both changed to ready for in-store pickup.

I bought an iPhone 12 from straight talk for $165. Traded that in for the Pixel 9. Total cost was: iPhone 12 (165) + pixel 9 tax (9) = $174.
And I bought a iPhone 13 Pro Max Xfinity Mobile for $466. Trade that in for the Pixel 9 Pro XL. Total cost was: iPhone 13 Pro Max (466) + Pixel 9 Pro XL tax (24) = $490.

Just picked up mine. I don't see a refund on my card

The trade in print out will show just 145 as trade in value

BUT the order pickup page on Best Buy page will update to show 0.00 cost (taxes still calculating I guess) and the promotion still shows there

Like others have said, no way to know it works except until after it's done

But if you ordered online with promo and it shows on order page when you walk in, it shouldn't mess up. It's simply processing that exact one

Picked up my 9 just now, took forever but no real issues. Only thing is on the sheet they printed it shows subtotal $145, promotions $0. But if you look online it shows the phone price as $145 with 0 total and already have refund showing on Paypal. No sales tax at all in Louisiana at least.

Picked up my 9 just now. Odd trade in experience.

They asked for my ID, then for my employer name, then they took my fingerprint, then they had me sign a statement that the phone is rightfully mine and free of encumbrances and that I will be criminally prosecuted if such and such.

I imagine some might be abusing their system, but I wonder how obligating everyone to disclose their employer and provide their biometric data and scaring them via a statement is an effective policy to deter the bad actors.
