Deal Details
UPDATE (8/28) - Last day for this deal. The phones listed below still works for trading.

UPDATE (8/25) - No new updates for trade ins. For those picking up their online orders, don't ask what your values are. Just take it and check your online invoice right after taking the phone. If it shows things are zero'd out, you're good and your refund will show up in a few days tops.

UPDATE (8/23) - Thanks to user SmartMice845 for pics of the latest trade in values (basically everything is devalued except the Samsung 23/24 Ultra and iPhone 14 Pro/Max. https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=172512819&postcount=2545

UPDATE (8/22) - From more reporting, it would seem the entire iPhone 13 lineup is devalued (base, pro, pro max). Thus for anyone who still wants in on this deal, only the 14 series and Samsung equivalents are good. Obviously those who already purchased have locked in the rates. Those who ordered online from the start of the promotion for instore pickup seem to be getting the full value without any additional tax.

UPDATE (8/21) - More than one person are reporting devaluation of the iPhone 13 > PXL 9 trade in so careful tonight if you're still planning on doing that. The iPhone 13 Pro Max > PXL 9 Pro XL is still alive.
Devices that were pre-ordered ship to home earlier are being shipped. I actually have a Pixel 9 delivered just now [imgur.com] from an instore pre-order on 8/16!

UPDATE (8/20) - It appears Best Buy have no intentions of fulfilling the "SteveIrwin" iPhone 12 $654 coupon for those who had it zero'd out on the eve of the 18th. Which is crazy they named it that since he's a famous Zoologist who died, so naming it that to say the coupon is dead is crazy. Anyways, if you still have it, I would try to get your trade in back. My store's manager kept my iPhone 12 in a separate location because he saw issues with the coupon. Returned it to me and cancelled the trade in today.

UPDATE (8/19) - looks like quite a few people are reporting their online orders getting cancelled, especially those with multiple orders or trading in an iPhone 12. No one who reported successfully trading in instore has reported cancellations yet. If you have an online order that isn't with an iPhone 12 trade in, perhaps trying going instore to "lock in" your trade and cancel the online one.

UPDATE (8/18) - they have fully devalued the iPhone 12 series. Those who attempted to trade in 8/18 at night were met with a coupon that doesn't work after they traded in their iPhone 12. Will see how Best Buy resolve a traded in phone but the coupon doesn't work. Other models listed below should still have elevated values instore. The updated terms online some people have posted is not the same terms that are present for instore documentation. Best Buy reps have an updated PDF every day and as of last night, still include everything EXCEPT the iPhone 12.

This is a previously posted deal, but trade in values online have been reduced. Higher trade in values still work in-store. Worked for me both yesterday and today.

Steps:

- Have one of the following trade ins. Carrier locked phones are fine as long as they aren't blacklisted. YMMV on exact carrier models and colors matching but I and many others have had no issues trading in a locked Straight Talk iPhone 12 and told them Verizon or Metro and T-Mobile (remove your SIM card when trading in):
Pixel 9:
Galaxy S23 Ultra ($799)
Galaxy S24 Ultra ($799)
Galaxy S24+ ($799)

Pixel 9 Pro:
Galaxy S24 Ultra ($999)
iPhone 14 Pro ($999)
iPhone 14 Pro Max ($999)

Pixel 9 Pro XL:
Galaxy S23 Ultra ($1,099)
Galaxy S24 Ultra ($1,099)
iPhone 14 Pro ($1,099)
iPhone 14 Pro Max ($1,099)
- Take your trade in to the store and ask them you want to pre-order the Pixel with said phone (don't ask for trade in value yet)
- They will ask for your phone's model and capacity and will check the IMEI that's physically on the phone (on the back of Samsung's and on the SIM tray of iPhones with SIM card slots)
- Let them proceed and they'll eventually get to this screen here: https://imgur.com/a/3tKD8kv
- Do not let them skip that screen. They will need to input a coupon code in order for this to work (they have a booklet for the code) -> Others have mentioned the code is just "GOOGLE"
- They'll print out the info, gift card for trade in value and coupon is deducted directly
- After you confirm the promo trade in value, proceed to sign away and give them your phone
- For some states like mine (WA), taxes is paid only on the after coupon price
https://imgur.com/a/naartVF

Additional info:
Phones listed should only have the value for their respective tiers. An iPhone 13 for instance will not have $799 value when trying to get a Pixel 9 Pro or Pro XL.
The $100/$200 gift cards come AFTER you make the purchase so you cannot use it to pay off the taxes. Gift cards are stackable though so if you do more than one trade in, you can use the $100/$200 gift card to pay for taxes on the second or third trade in.
You can use the previous threads to find data points from what others have mentioned are trade in values for different phones. I only listed the ones that corresponds with the models to make them free. Online trade in values are decreased so it's not a good data point for how much your phone would actually cost.

Went to the store to pickup my Pro XL with 13 pro max tradein. I have ordered it online for store pickup when the promo was valid.

I would like to understand if the BB rep did the process correctly or not.

She scanned my pickup order
She took my trade in phone and entered the IMEI and asked to me to accept it. The tradein value came as $390.
She told me that the rest promotional value would come back as refund.
She even showed the screen and allowed me to take the photo. It did show the refund of $709. She said you will get the refund in 3-5 days.

I am little skeptical and hence have not opened the phone yet.

Is this the process for online order with store pickup?
Yes, that sounds about right

The key is to look at your order page. It should show the promotional value on there as part of the trade in. And post pick up, it should show the final value applied. For instance, with my iPhone 12 trade in for base Pixel 9, I got 799 including the promo and trade in value for phone, and as such, total for me came out to "0.00" on order page at the top post pickup

I didn't get a refund for a few days, but then full refund hit my card a few days later

If you go back a few pages in this madlad thread, you'll find actual screenshots of how the order page should look. If yours look similar, you're in the clear

All that said, I didn't go back for my second order until I saw it all clear and full refund hit for my first one. So I don't blame ya for not wanting to open!

4] can't swap the back and task buttons.. I don't understand why the back button wouldn't be on the right side for right-handed users (the majority of people are right handed).
It's a matter of what you're used to. I'm right-handed, so I hold the phone with my left hand, and use my right index finger to touch/point on the phone. When I started using (Android) smartphones in 2013, my phones were LGs, Motos, and they have the Back button on the left side. When LG left the phone market, I switched to Samsung which has the Back button on the right-side. The first thing that I do when I get a Samsung phone is to change the Back button to the left-side Big Grin

I used to the Pixel for 2 days before going back to my Galaxy S21. Here's a list of things I didn't like:
1] have to scroll all the way to the left to "close all apps"
2] can't turn on flashlight when the phone is locked. on my galaxy I just double click the power button
3] Can't mute specific apps. on my galaxy I have an app called "Sound Assistant" that does this
4] can't swap the back and task buttons.. I don't understand why the back button wouldn't be on the right side for right-handed users (the majority of people are right handed).
5] the gallery app is just a bunch of empty space.. hard to navigate
6] i was interested to try the AI gemini stuff, but it's terrible. I asked Gemini a question about the Pixel 9 and it couldn't give me a straight answer. the phone doesn't even know about itself. pathetic

i gave it to my wife to try.. let's see what she says, she currently has a OnePlus 8
You are supposed to hold the phone on your left hand and use your right hand as a pointing/touching device.

my phone screen is 6.2", which is barely the right size for one handed operation. i hold my phone in my right hand and use my thumb to control it. I hate how all the phones nowadays are so big..

Regarding the Gemini, I found it excellent while using RCS to talk to it.

I traded S23Ultra for the 9pro XL and let me urge you to try again, I really like the pixel, it's lighter, screen is more compact, and the screen is so snappy, YouTube is amazing and Gemini is great !
You need to follow the (Tips) app to see all the things it can do, also you need to activate your free 1 year Gemini advanced to get all the power like the live feature, you need to join the beta program in Google app, phone app.the software is really interesting, recording calls, live transcribe, live Gemini chat, hold the on button to access Gemini on any Google app like YouTube (ask to summarize the video for example) on your Gmail (read , reply..
No unnecessary Samsung apps (bye Bixby, bye gallery I use Google photos)
Hold my call, screen calls, hold the square button and circle anything on ur screen, camera AI is not limited, Gemini live is not limited.
Change display to full resolution, change display size / font to what you like.

Size wise? My S23U felt huge compared to 9XL, also u get latest android (before Samsung)

Really Gemini and seamless software experience is the winning here, battery is great (as Samsung) maybe s23U has little better PPI but YouTube is awesome on pixel. S23U camera is better, but pixel make up for all the free AI software to get photos adjustments (Samsung was not free as I was using Google photos, rarely used Samsung photos as it was lacking)

My Samsung S24 is on the "smaller" side, at 147mm tall. I have medium-sized hands. I tried to touch the Back button (on the left side) using my left thumb while holding my S24 in my left hand, it was very awkward. Couldn't do it while holding the phone vertical. Had to hold it almost horizontal on my open palm to touch the Back button with my left thumb.

I'm gonna go with Google software, ez choice, everytime.

1, 2 and 3 are features that are missing on the Pixel. With the flashlight, you could add a shortcut to the lock screen for it. Double clicking the power button opens the camera which I like a lot more... Photos are probably more time sensitive for me than flashlight applications.

4. I don't use 3 button navigation, I switched to gesture navigation a few Pixels ago. Once I got past the learning curve after a week, I much prefer it. And when I tried a Samsung S23FE, it was all backwards and I hated 3 button nav.

Haven't used Samsung's gallery but normally I just scroll through my photos chronologically in Photos, I never really go further than that...

But this is due to you having small hands. Plenty of women have xl sized phones nowadays. IPhone mini failed and that proves only a vocal minority cares about it.

Android had LG and ASUS Zenfone. No one was supporting their small models, Like G8 or Z9.

I usually prefer 6.1 models because it fits perfectly inside my blazer's pocket which I wear quite often on the weekends, bar hopping.

"If you have not returned to the store please do so by 8/28/24. We have a solution in place to allow your order to get processed correctly."

Emailed them back and asked what the solution was, but it'll be 24-48 hours for another response.

Error: trade-in value higher than price of purchased item. iPhone 12 for Pixel 9. $5 reward certificate applied.
I'm in the same boat, applied $10 reward certificate.
