Deal Details
UPDATE (8/28) - Last day for this deal. The phones listed below still works for trading.

UPDATE (8/25) - No new updates for trade ins. For those picking up their online orders, don't ask what your values are. Just take it and check your online invoice right after taking the phone. If it shows things are zero'd out, you're good and your refund will show up in a few days tops.

UPDATE (8/23) - Thanks to user SmartMice845 for pics of the latest trade in values (basically everything is devalued except the Samsung 23/24 Ultra and iPhone 14 Pro/Max. https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=172512819&postcount=2545

UPDATE (8/22) - From more reporting, it would seem the entire iPhone 13 lineup is devalued (base, pro, pro max). Thus for anyone who still wants in on this deal, only the 14 series and Samsung equivalents are good. Obviously those who already purchased have locked in the rates. Those who ordered online from the start of the promotion for instore pickup seem to be getting the full value without any additional tax.

UPDATE (8/21) - More than one person are reporting devaluation of the iPhone 13 > PXL 9 trade in so careful tonight if you're still planning on doing that. The iPhone 13 Pro Max > PXL 9 Pro XL is still alive.
Devices that were pre-ordered ship to home earlier are being shipped. I actually have a Pixel 9 delivered just now [imgur.com] from an instore pre-order on 8/16!

UPDATE (8/20) - It appears Best Buy have no intentions of fulfilling the "SteveIrwin" iPhone 12 $654 coupon for those who had it zero'd out on the eve of the 18th. Which is crazy they named it that since he's a famous Zoologist who died, so naming it that to say the coupon is dead is crazy. Anyways, if you still have it, I would try to get your trade in back. My store's manager kept my iPhone 12 in a separate location because he saw issues with the coupon. Returned it to me and cancelled the trade in today.

UPDATE (8/19) - looks like quite a few people are reporting their online orders getting cancelled, especially those with multiple orders or trading in an iPhone 12. No one who reported successfully trading in instore has reported cancellations yet. If you have an online order that isn't with an iPhone 12 trade in, perhaps trying going instore to "lock in" your trade and cancel the online one.

UPDATE (8/18) - they have fully devalued the iPhone 12 series. Those who attempted to trade in 8/18 at night were met with a coupon that doesn't work after they traded in their iPhone 12. Will see how Best Buy resolve a traded in phone but the coupon doesn't work. Other models listed below should still have elevated values instore. The updated terms online some people have posted is not the same terms that are present for instore documentation. Best Buy reps have an updated PDF every day and as of last night, still include everything EXCEPT the iPhone 12.

This is a previously posted deal, but trade in values online have been reduced. Higher trade in values still work in-store. Worked for me both yesterday and today.

Steps:

- Have one of the following trade ins. Carrier locked phones are fine as long as they aren't blacklisted. YMMV on exact carrier models and colors matching but I and many others have had no issues trading in a locked Straight Talk iPhone 12 and told them Verizon or Metro and T-Mobile (remove your SIM card when trading in):
Pixel 9:
Galaxy S23 Ultra ($799)
Galaxy S24 Ultra ($799)
Galaxy S24+ ($799)

Pixel 9 Pro:
Galaxy S24 Ultra ($999)
iPhone 14 Pro ($999)
iPhone 14 Pro Max ($999)

Pixel 9 Pro XL:
Galaxy S23 Ultra ($1,099)
Galaxy S24 Ultra ($1,099)
iPhone 14 Pro ($1,099)
iPhone 14 Pro Max ($1,099)
- Take your trade in to the store and ask them you want to pre-order the Pixel with said phone (don't ask for trade in value yet)
- They will ask for your phone's model and capacity and will check the IMEI that's physically on the phone (on the back of Samsung's and on the SIM tray of iPhones with SIM card slots)
- Let them proceed and they'll eventually get to this screen here: https://imgur.com/a/3tKD8kv
- Do not let them skip that screen. They will need to input a coupon code in order for this to work (they have a booklet for the code) -> Others have mentioned the code is just "GOOGLE"
- They'll print out the info, gift card for trade in value and coupon is deducted directly
- After you confirm the promo trade in value, proceed to sign away and give them your phone
- For some states like mine (WA), taxes is paid only on the after coupon price
https://imgur.com/a/naartVF

Additional info:
Phones listed should only have the value for their respective tiers. An iPhone 13 for instance will not have $799 value when trying to get a Pixel 9 Pro or Pro XL.
The $100/$200 gift cards come AFTER you make the purchase so you cannot use it to pay off the taxes. Gift cards are stackable though so if you do more than one trade in, you can use the $100/$200 gift card to pay for taxes on the second or third trade in.
You can use the previous threads to find data points from what others have mentioned are trade in values for different phones. I only listed the ones that corresponds with the models to make them free. Online trade in values are decreased so it's not a good data point for how much your phone would actually cost.

Weird saga, but finally got my full refund. They even refunded the tax, which surprised me.

When they got the trade in device, an error message appeared on the app stating they couldn't find my device. I decided to wait until today, and it changed to we are evaluating the device. I got an email later in the evening the condition matched what I put down, but it was just worth $145. An email from PayPal about 29 minutes later said a refund was on the way for the full trade in credit plus the sales tax.

I had a spare box meant for shipping a phone, but I wouldn't recommend doing a trade online to others, as Best Buy doesn't provide a trade return box. You could use the one they provide, but it was relatively large, and they didn't have a lot of bubble packaging on the inside.

Great promo though, and glad I got in on it.

We're working on shipping this item. It's unlikely, but if your item isn't available by Wed, September 11, we'll issue a refund"
Is it for the Porcelain P9? My Day 1 order of this color for In-store pickup has this message still. I'm hoping they don't cancel the order altogether.

It is impossible to lose your trade in device because legally, Best buy who bought it has to keep it in their inventory for 30 days... You can request your device back... But yeah I'm pretty sure you're not going to get the deal at this point...SOL
Best Buy didn't do anything wrong. You need to look at what REALLY happened.
Best Buy took a phone, and gave you a BB GC. That is BB's deal with you. Google is running the promo which gave you EXTRA value on the trade in. Now it is kinda shitty they let you redeem the coupon past what was expect, that's all on them but for the actual phone given to them, they gave you 'equal' trade back on the spot. You got the GC and were told the value. At any time with and even after the transaction, you could take it back and give them back the GC. Now since it's been several days, the deal on that is more or less locked in.
Ultimately your beef on the more valuable trade in part is from google, and should be with google. Best Buy did there part in giving you the value they promised on the trade in being done.
I know it's going to suck for some people but I've been warning people for a week now that you need to use the coupon or lose it.

That's unusual. I pre-ordered Porcelain P9 on 8/13 and 8/14. Picked up both of them on 8/22.

Got the deal today in Gainesville, FL. Traded in an Iphone 14 Pro Max. The first customer service rep knew what I was talking about immediately. They were originally out, and she suggested trying an open box version. The second rep, very rude. His manager, even worse. Terrible customer service. I originally went yesterday, 8/27 and left empty handed after an hour. On 8/28, I left with the Pixel Pro 9 XL. Still frustrated at the entire process. I'm loving the phone, and the brand new battery. My Pro Max 14 was already at 89% battery in less than a year. I've also done Iphone for a while, so this promo was a great opportunity to switch to a nice new android advice. Who knows...maybe in a few years I'll go back to Iphone after they finally redesign it.

My experience at Bestbuy was so frustrating. The gatekeeping due to incompetency....unmatched. I didn't realize their customer service was this bad. I'm not an avid Bestbuy shopper, and sure won't be after this experience.

Most people knew it was use it or lose it, I think what sucks is that it didn't come back in stock. I wouldn't have minded a backordered situation which I thought would happen worse case.

Exactly this. Who would have thought that you get a coupon to use but can never use it, like a false promise.

I don't know if it's related, but it looks like there was a similar problem when the 8 first came out … something like an issue with Tracfone's IMEI database not updated for the new model or something. Anyway, some reported getting it working by just swapping an already active SIM to the new phone (also not sure if that could possibly be problematic in other ways). Anyway, here's one of the old discussions About the 8 …

Got my refund after 5 days.

I messaged customer support at BB before to inquire about my refund. They said it was processed on their end but it could take 7-10 business days depending on my bank.

That night, the refund appeared. Coincidence? Maybe.

Thank you for the post. I did see the sim swap post. The IMEI is compatible with Verizon, Mint, T-Mobile connect, etc. But not Tracfone or Straight Talk

Are you having problems with their system saying right now they only support eSIM on iPhone 12 and later even though you entered the P9's IMEI 1 ? If yes, TracFone has problems with not having new phones in their database. I had that problem with my Samsung S24 in Feb. Had to hound their support staff for 2 weeks and they finally added the IMEI1 of my S24 to their database.

That's more for pawn transactions where it's basically a loan with collateral. Pawn shops can't immediately sell an item you're expecting back in that situation. Best Buy separates the trade-in transaction from the phone purchase and it's basically a final sale. State and local laws can differ and they might be required to hold the item for a certain time as a precaution against stolen goods or something, but they're not obligated to return it or cancel the transaction. There may be specific circumstances that might help in some areas, but it would certainly be a bit of a crapshoot. Hopefully managers realize the potential problem for the most part and try to work with people … there have been a few reports of managers doing that. Here's a brief discussion of the "pawn" versus "sell" difference (pawn shops can also do both types of transactions) …

https://www.quora.com/After-I-sel...n-the-sale

I glanced at a printout of the electronic contract we signed on the touchpad for the trade-in and it includes the following clause. (Now obviously, contracts aren't always ironclad, but it seems pretty clearly structured as a final sale.)

"For Trade-In Transactions Only; By accepting the offer (a Best Buy Gift Card, coupon, or other type of value), I irrevocably transfer all rights and title to the product(s) described in this transaction to Best Buy in exchange for the amount offered. Upon accepting the offer, I acknowledge and agree that this transaction is final and cannot be canceled or rescinded and that no further compensation is owed to me by Best Buy, its parent company or affiliates."
