I'm the very definition of a cheapskate. I literally take things from the dump on occasion and I'm not proud. I am 1000% on board with recommending Darn tough and have replaced nearly all of my socks with them. Truly excellent quality and comfort with a warranty to back them up, plus made in USA! One of the very few products on the market I feel is actually worth the cost.

I replaced all my socks have 5 pairs of darn tough. You seriously can wear the same pair for a week with no odor. Not that I do that or anything. But you could. Great deal.

I have 6 pairs of Darn Tough socks and 4 pairs of Balega socks. IMO the Balegas are more comfortable, but I've had the Darn Toughs longer (probably 3 years at this point) and they truly are durable. So far I have one small hole in one sock, I keep waiting for additional socks to get holes in them so I can send multiple at a time but they still are holding up great.
DT aren't the best for comfortably, but they are the best overall value for comfort + longevity. Anythign similar merino wool like smartwool/IB only lasted me ~50-70 wears. While I still have DT that I have worn for work once a week since 2014 and they are still going strong after 500 wears. At this point I will likely never send a DT sock unless it is a major defect.

Betwenn my wife and I in 10 years, the only issue we have ever had is our own fault (getting the sock snagged on something)

Did you try a warranty claim? My Darn Tough socks last me 2-3 years before developing tiny holes (I walk about 25k steps/day). I've done 2 warranties with them and have had no problem.
no I went to the return portal. I found the warranty form...Apparentally I am doing it wrong ..Smilie Thank you.

I've found their cushioned models to be far more durable than the uncushioned or ultralight socks. I've given up on their ultralight no-show entirely as they barely last a couple hundred km before being threadbare. The lightweight (w/o cushioning) hiking socks lasted maybe 50-70 wearings before being threadbare in spots and 100 or so (~3 years in rotation) to having holes. The original pair of hiking socks I bought 4 years ago (with cushioning) are getting a little thin at the rub points near the ankles. but are still in decent shape. I'd say how well the knee-high heavy socks are but I've only worn them a couple dozen times in 3 years. I will say that they are stupid warm in late autumn weather in Iceland and dead-of-winter east coast (US) skiing.

All that said, the warranty process for the socks was painless and I replaced them all (for an extra dollar or two per pair) with the cushioned variants. They're perfect for long trips as I can economize on packing space and extend between washes when needed.

Can anyone tell me how they compare to Feetures? Just upgraded my whole sock wardrobe, mostly with those - but wouldn't mind adding a few pairs of these if they are comparable or better!

No problem! Some REIs also participate in a program that allows you to exchange your Dark Tough socks.

I use the uncushioned ones for cycling as there is very little impact. Anything running I use the cushioned ones.

How do you know? Has it been that way historically? Or is it published somewhere that it will 30% this coming October?
Domestic Domestic reliably has had 30-40% off during major holidays with free shipping and no sales tax unless you live in Arkansas. Should see a Labor Day discount come up in a few weeks.

Once bought normal DT socks (*not* the Irregular ones found at Marshalls, Ross, etc) for as little as $6 when they were on clearance for 70+% off! Size and stock is more limited than Go Bros or Sock Addicts, so there's an element of luck catching them on clearance. But around the major holidays you'll see them reliably drop 30% off discount codes.

I have seen all the compliments of darn tough socks so i got a few pairs. They are thick! but i see nobody complaining about it. I am wondering, don't you need to size up your shoes? and for the fellow SDers who replaced all their socks with DT, do you wear them in summer as well?

Ditto. I was buying Dickies socks for years but each new batch I would buy, the quality would get crappier and crappier and they began to be mostly made of polyester...probably the worst material for a sock. I started replacing them a few years ago and no issues thusfar. I'll probably end up buying a few more pairs!

Btw, if you need a filler item to get to $40 and don't want another pair of socks, they have these stickers for $1 Link [gobros.com]

There a several different weights and degrees of cushioning. In summer I wear ultra lightweight or lightweight. As for the the thicker styles, I wear them with hiking or work boots, which usually have a little more space. If you go to the GoBros site, you will see the differences.

Grabbed some more. They are expensive but I've had a weeks worth of pairs for years and they are still phenomenal. The Quarter Lightweight Athletic Socks are my everyday go to all year round. Plus never had stinky sweaty feet with these!

Great example of "buy nice or buy twice"! Can't go wrong with Darn Tough, once you try them it's definitely hard to go back to regular cotton socks from Costco.
