Super happy with my remotes and I have both the older model as well as this newer one. I finally replaced one of the batteries and found out that the older models use CR2450, while these newer ones are CR2032.

I have one of these, and was expecting it to be annoying to have to change batteries on it a bunch. I cannot remember the last time I've had to, it's been like 3 years. In for another!

FYI this is compatible with Zigbee2MQTT for those that don't want to buy the bridge: https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/device...92621.html

I have a light switch downstairs that controls the light upstairs (fixed ceiling light, not bulb). I hate it because to turn the light off so you can go to bed, you have to walk downstairs, flip the switch, and walk back upstairs in the dark.

Would this integrate at all in any way to save that trouble?
Might get downvoted but Lutron Caseta would solve that problem.
You would replace the switch downstairs and also have a separate wireless pico switch that you can mount anywhere on the wall or inside a wall plate upstairs.
The downside is that you would need the kit that includes the caseta bridge. You can find a kit for about $50 on eBay.

Sorry for this dumb question but could this somehow allow me to connect to a ceiling fan or ceiling fan/light to control speed of fan? I guess I just don't understand the practicallitiee of this device

No idea why you got downvoted, the product you linked is leagues, LEAGUES, better than this dumpster fire of a switch. Who wants to use a remote when you can just say 'Alexa turn the light on/off' or 'Alexa, set the light to 40%'. I have this switch, along with easily over 20 others throughout my home from Kasa and treat life (no idea why these two words together are seen as a url? lol), and would not switch them for anything, because being able to control everything with my voice and/or Alexa routine, is just magic.
hue lights have alexa control if you have a hub. imagine jumpin into a thread when you have no idea what youre talking about

These are used to control a variety of "smart home" devices. If your ceiling fan has wifi, or other smart connections, its possible this switch may work for you.

*Edit - If your fan has a remote, you can research products like the Bond Bridge that will allow for a smart connection to the fan using the OP remote.

Depends, so its a light switch that only turns off the light (not the fan) correct?
Does it use normal light bulbs or some kind of special LED light that you cant replace with normal bulbs?

Your path of least resistance if you can use regular bulbs would be something like this and just replace the bulb with a Hue bulb so you can turn off that light from your phone, from a voice assitant, or from this switch.

If its a fully intergrated LED light that you have to kill power too, then this wont work without some kind of hardware that can actually turn off the power.

So a TP Link switch linked here on this thread would work, or if its some kind of switch that you cant replace easily you can install behind the plate a Shelly and have the shelly turn your dumb switch into a smart switch (and then you have the same options, control phone phone, voice command, etc)

Once you have a switch like TP Link or Shelly that can turn off the power (just a smart relay is all they are) then you can control those devices with one of these, but not out of the box.

Out of the box this only controls hue devices (So see #1 path of least resistance, using a Hue bulb)

I have a lutron caseta dimmer switch. Between phillips hue and caseta, they are the most reliable smart lights/switches I have.

I recently added a few tp-link tapo matter dimmer and non-dimmer switches.

They don't require a hub, but have been pretty solid so far. Was a real pain getting them added to Apple Home, but they've been pretty reliable since. They've been working for about 2 months now with no issues.

Not seeing the same opening price of $22.32 in link. My amazon link shows $27.98-$5.59 ('clip' coupon) = $22.39 total.
