I used to use one of these, but no more. After all the work of changing the filter and oil, I noticed a puddle of oil underneath my car. The teeth of that plier had punctured the thin metal of the filter and I had to get another filter and more oil to do the job again, but without using that plier. Also had to clean up the puddle of oil. What a nightmare!

Don't you need a ton of room around the filter to use this?

Think these pliers are only used to remove a filter, not install them.

You're supposed to only hand-tighten oil filters. The tools are to remove the oil filter unless you hate the person who has to remove the filter next oil change.

The Toyota dealer hated me probably because after telling them 3 times not to overfill the oil they do anyway.

I used a largish channel locks slip jaw pliers to remove, one of these would presumably work even better.

Now that I hand tightened I don't expect I'll need tools to remove, will know in 2025 when it's time to change it.

Yeah, I couldn't use this on any of my cars or trucks. I've seen this wrench advertised for years, and have not bought it for that reason.

You will need tools to remove it next time still. All the heat cycles the filters goes through will make it hard to remove by hand next time. I always hand tighten mine and still need tool to remove.
