i was recently looking at this but didn't buy it because lots of reviews say it's a hotbox that fries your drive over time.

I made the exact same decision after reading reviews about it cooking drives

i'm debating cutting the top to add a 120mm fan because for the price this is exactly what I've been looking for.

so what did you eventually get? how is it working out? i am hoping to find a reliable and inexpensive USB 3.2, 10Gbps 4 (or more) bay enclosure.

For those looking for alternatives Terramaster is more expensive and yet offers some nice features like additional USB-C passthrough. Cheap might be the enemy here as it's likely going to be from skimping on cooling or the speed of the interface it uses to connect.

3. A JMS583 solution usb3.2 GEN2 10gb to NVME mobile hard drive box,
4. A JMB585 solution NVME to 5-port SATA adapter board
5. Short SATA cable, insulating double-sided tape, several rubber feet. A 120mm fan!
Summary: You will get a total transfer speed of about 1.6GB at full speed, and support Windows soft array, perfect... only less than $100! DIY fun
