Let be clear on their unlocking policy. There is 365 days waiting time, and also the phone should have service for 180 days within 365 days. This is per my recent conversation with their customer service agent.
Please remember that their unlock policy criteria does not specify automatic unlock regardless of the service time.

You're missing the point here. 99% of us only want to pay $125 1x to get the phone. You want to pay $70 a month for 2 years. Not us😀

BB website doesn't really ask if your trade in is locked or not. And They don't care. They check the IMEI if the phone is blacklisted.....ie stolen or those kind of stuff.

What a "tiring" 2 hr afternoon! Walked in a newly opened Metro store, expecting the worst (pushy, add-ons, b.s. made up policy) but thankfully, the salesperson working at that time is unexpectedly opposite. Walked out about an hour later with 3 iPhone 12s for $30x.xx. Sat in the car, logged in Metro's account to ensure no insurance or anything funny was added then drove to Best Buy to pick up my ordered P9 and say good bye to one brand new, less than an hour old iPhone 12. Out of there within 5m while noticing another customer, prolly SDer, complaining/arguing with the BB staff because the system wouldn't let him pickup/release his P9 Pro or XL order. I think he has a Pro Max trade. Drove another 10m to Apple store to trade in 2nd iPhone 12 as I wanted to "bank" some Apple credit to use when iPhone 16 is released as well as mentally offset out-of-pocket cost. Keeping the 3rd iPhone 12, save for a rainy day when the next deal that offer good TIV for it. Spent $10ish to pick up a 6 pack of Yuengling for refreshments when I unwrap and play with the P9.

How did you manage to port in 3 numbers in the store to get the iPhones at this price!?

Didn't do anything special except being nice + a lil social engineering. I came in with intention of getting 2 but when those were completed, I asked if I can add another. He clickity clicked for a few minutes and I think had to manually override or added the promo code or something, beats me. I'm a happy camper and hopefully he'll meet his quota this month.

I have been with them for 3 years now. The iPhone gets unlocked automatically in 180 days. But there is a $50 fee for going to a lower plan. One of my phones is $24 per month for unlimited data with a 10 GB hotspot. They always offer very low rates if you tell them to port out.

Why would anyone bother to port in a number. Give the number then buy the phone . never activate it. just keep it as a trade in.

Anyone know how this scenario would play out? Say I ordered and paid for month 1, then cut off service. My wife is already on Metro with the $25 plan. Could I pop her sim in starting in month 2 and she just uses the device?
