Let be clear on their unlocking policy. There is 365 days waiting time, and also the phone should have service for 180 days within 365 days. This is per my recent conversation with their customer service agent.
Please remember that their unlock policy criteria does not specify automatic unlock regardless of the service time.

You're missing the point here. 99% of us only want to pay $125 1x to get the phone. You want to pay $70 a month for 2 years. Not us😀

I did this earlier, sent it to India. It still had two months left from 6 months and it unlocked after the set 2 months time. No extra steps to be done

It happens to most GV ports. You will know the port is completed properly when you get an email (to the GV account) saying it was ported out.

Anyone able to order Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ 5G Tablet, I am getting this message "Sorry, you are not eligible to add a new line. Please contact support to discover the reason for ineligibility. 1-888-8metro8"

If we're interested in keeping the iphone in a drawer for 365 days and see it it unlocks, does porting out the number at the end of the 1st month cause any issues?? I seem to recall hearing something like that in the past, but not sure what carrier it was.

Don't expect it to work reliably. Apple has made changes to it's OS to patch most RSim exploits I've heard.

Only if someone were foolish enough to bother getting it unlocked for $$$. Everyone else will use it for trade in or wait 365 days.
(also possible to pay the $50(?) penalty and switch to a cheaper Metro plan.. might be good for some people.)
