Im convinced they keep low inventory just to get people to come in the store and not have any of the deals. Ive given up on stopping over for a specific deal.

Picked up some 9 mil gloves last week, but had to hit 2 stores just to get 5 boxes. Interestingly, the 2 box designs with the same SKU have different gloves inside. The gloves in the black box are larger and thicker.

I highly suggest you use the harbor freight app to check inventory before you drive to the store. Several of the Icon ratchets I was looking to purchase are all out of stock, and this is the same case for all the nearby stores.

this sale extension seems like an evil ploy to get people back into their store with the hopes that they buy something else not on sale instead of coming home empty handed

Does anyone recall any prior sales on the apache cases? I remember another sale maybe a year ago that was almost too good to pass, but I passed... How "rare" is this pricing?
I don't know how reliable their data is, but there is a price tracking site, like CCC, devoted to HF ("Hazard Fraught") that can be consulted.

Last time I purchased jack stands from HF they were later recalled. I had been working under the front end of a Sierra with a 350 prior to the recall. Will not buy their crap ever again. My 2 cents worth.
The market is flooded with jacks, and jack stands that probably come out of a handful, if that, of factories in China, with the main difference being branding, and appearance. The $20-30 HD Husky, and Pro-Lift stands that are also popular deals here aren't necessarily any better.

I can understand the anger, and loss of faith, but when it needed to, HF did the right thing, recalled them on a large scale and gave owners credit for those purchases. And like an IKEA, with their recalls, at least they're big enough for people to actually have gotten the news, and have an easy, convenient way to obtain relief.

Problem is, it's hard to buy unquestionable stuff, at least at a reasonable price.

Even the more expensive, much-lauded brands, like ESCO, have some horrible welds on their stands.

I replaced some that weren't recalled but allowed you to trade them in for credit anyway.
My understanding is the recall was not for them failing but if you kicked the handle there was a possibility it would drop. Not sure how many actual problems there were. The new ones have a pin that makes that failure impossible.

They had them 50% off back in May of this year.

Harbor freight's esco clone is better than esco. Welds look cleaner.

HF is kinda a joke anymore. I just go in there every so often to walk around. Maybe but 1 thing. But it's all the same and never a great deal anymore.

Online says in stock but the shelves are empty. I asked the employee there and they restocked it all.

1) Most of the stuff they sell isn't going to sit between a 4k lb vehicle and your body. So just because they had a recall on Jack stands, I wouldn't count them out for other tools.
2) Every tire place I've ever been to uses Daytona jacks (not the stands) day in and day out, so I'm willing to give them a pass on the jack stands. Just because one item is a dud doesn't mean the entire store immediately becomes a wasteland.

Couldn't disagree more. They have a ton of budget items that are fine for weekend warriors. If you break something, then buy something better. The majority of the time, you'll be fine with something at harbor freight.
Their gloves, tarps, ratchet straps, bungies, etc are all great and cheap products.

The Icon beam style torque wrench is probably one of the best ones you can buy for under $200.
HF has a plethora of great (and cheap) things. The worst thing about them is that you can't leave without spending at least $50 every time, even with coupons. All of a sudden, I find myself absolutely needing a set of crowfoot wrenches, tap and die set, extraction bits, or some other random specialty tool that catches my eye.

Yes, the prices have gone up with just about everything, but I built much of my tools from them for pretty reasonable prices. Their extendable ratchets are still my primaries, the big pack of impact sockets are still a good deal at $30 vs $20 considering that axle nut socket will cost you $15 by itself some places.

I just got a Daytona jack finally for $130 a couple of months ago during a sale (it's on sale again right now apparently), which worked great I love mine.

A lot of my other stuff is Craftsman, some made in USA from Sears when they were doing a bunch of coupons, but have you seen the prices Lowes is charging on the Craftsman stuff now? It's absurd.

Still a great place to get tools without having to spend a ton. Just not as cheap as before, but those days are gone as are the 99 cent meat burritos at Taco Bell and the $1 Mcdouble. What can you do.

It's because ITC members get dibs on inventory for a few days prior to the general public. As they realize they weren't able meet the demand, most stores will restock; hence they often extend their parking lot sales. Their website have always been good about updating local store inventory for me. I've never left empty handed when I purchased and picked up in store.

Had the same experience. Showed the employee their store showed it was green and in stock but they said they were all out.

Just want to give a heads up, I had two of those cheap ratchet straps fail on me the first time I used them strapping down my ATV to my trailer. I'm not sure I overloaded them using three straps for a 700 pound ATV but I disposed the others and am going to get a different brand of strap.
