Usually use the weber charcoal cubes and they work well, but this looks to be about the same price currently, so ordered one to check it out. Petroleum jelly and a cotton ball always works well in a pinch. Though I never really had any complaints about some newspaper and a charcoal chimney either.

I used weber cubes for years, And they work really well. But i switched to Jealous Devil. Because I use Jealous Devil Binchotan charcoal. And in my experience they seem to work better for the Binchotan charcoal. However the weber cubes did a pretty good job as well.

I use a heat gun and a chimney starter, a lot less smoke when lighting. My neighbor appreciates it.😄

For 10 bucks put them in your car or your truck especially if you live in snow country. Next to your tool kit and your winter gloves and kit. Don't forget to throw in a couple of bic lighters. Trust me on this you don't want to be freezing your ass off in the snow somewhere been there done that. Just my two cents worth

I bought these and they are ok. They take a while to get my charcoal lit. I prefer the Weber cubes
