In fact, keep anything that isn't metal out of the sun when not using it and it'll last for ages, right? Leave hoses, plastics, rubber materials, etc. out in the sun all day and you can kiss them goodbye in a few years. I'm always amazed at people who leave their cars in the driveway instead of the garage for the same reason. Second most expensive purchase in life for most, and they let it rot in the driveway
To your point about finding a metal equivalent. A metal one will hold up infinitely better in the sun, you're right. But in my experience the metal ones can bind after time and become difficult to operate. Plus they're usually pretty limited to just variable spraying like the one in this deal. I have yet to see a 100% metal multi-function nozzle. On the other hand, the Gardena plastic+metal+rubber multi-function sprayer I have is excellent. Made in Germany, feels good in the hand, easy variable pressure control on the back, easy to disassemble to clean if needed, with metal where it matters (the stainless steel "rain" spray screen, and the reinforced base + connector). I quick-disconnect it, and pop it on a shelf in the back which keeps it out of the sun when it's not in use.

I've used Gardena plastic hose connectors and sprayers for years. I only buy the ones made in Germany. Keep them out of constant sunlight (not hard), and they'll last for years. I have sprayers and quick connects that are 10+ years old, with zero issues.

Oh interesting. I'm assuming you meant "hose" connector? You know I hadn't thought of that! But now that you mention it, I DO remember seeing hose quick-disconnects that are mostly metal. Great point. Just with some plastic I guess to make them easy to handle.
Gardena actually makes metal ones also. They're not 100% metal though. The male end is 100% metal, and the female end is plastic BUT has a metal thread on the other side. They're more expensive, but I've found them to be tougher and easier to use. I'm just careful not to drop the metal parts on the patio or driveway, to prevent them from getting dented and scratched.
Metal or plastic, I try to keep all of it out of the sun (hose hideaway, etc.) or on the side of the house that only gets light morning and evening sun.
š š š Oh hey...! DRAMM makes some amazing nozzles also! The various versions of the "Water Breaker" nozzle are great. Many (if not most?) of them are made in the USA also.

Yeah same here. I'm not sure I understand though... They're mostly metal, but what is most exposed? By mass the car is mostly metal, but that wasn't really the point
-Paint, with the clear coat being the outermost layer.
-Plastic trim (cowl, below windshield wipers for example. And on cheaper cars, trim on doors and bumpers)
-Plastic headlight and tail-light lenses
-Rubber gaskets and trim (windows, sunroof)
-Rubber tires
Not to mention the thermal stress. Day in day out getting baked and cooled, expanding and contracting.
100% of this can be avoided by keeping the mostly metal car in a garage. Obviously people can do what they want. I was just making an observation :-). Which is that in all of the places I've lived and driven around in this country of ours, most people seem to have a garage full of sh*t, and keep their 2nd most expensive assets in the driveway to get trashed by UV (and hail I guess, if they're unlucky
