I'm not a tool snob by any means (gladly use many harbor freight tools) but I won't spend a dime on MODERN craftsman junk. Many of the tools I bought roughly 6 years ago have broken within a couple uses. Broken screwdrivers, broken torque wrench, etc.

Maybe they've improved over the last 3 or so years, but I doubt it. I'd avoid unless they were free.... And even then..

The tool boxes generally seem to be decent, but I don't have long term experience with them. I'd imagine this one is pretty cheap
Box alone is worth $50
I have kobalt and husky as well, and have never had trouble. The craftsman tools that I have bought have largely been garbage. I literally broke a screwdriver on its first use, using it as it's intended. I'm also not a particularly muscular dude.

My torque wrench ratcheting. Mechanism broke within 3 or 4 uses. Again, not doing anything I shouldn't have been.

The tools I've bought were from the last few years of the sears era. Maybe they are better now, but I personally doubt it.

The old USA tools are fantastic. I have my dad's and his dad's and I've never had a problem aside from out right abuse.

When kobalt, husky, and harbor freight exist in the same or lower price bracket, craftsman is a non-option for me

Pretty good deal, but keep in mind, 1/3 of the set are bits and Allen wrenches you'll never use. Actual useful tools = 66 pcs. Decent box. This makes a great set for the trunk or truck bed if you add a set of wrenches and some pliers.

Why do craftsman mechanic tools have very highly rated reviews from actual customer purchasers? They have 4.7 out of 5 stars on Lowe's. They aren't lying. Maybe you feel the need to push Harbor Freight tools because you are a Harbor Freight fan? There is nothing wrong with Craftsman, Kobalt, Husky or Harbor Freight Pittsburgh line as they get the job done for home users. They all have solid reviews and the purchasers aren't lying. I think the majority of people who bust ratchets or sockets are doing it from user error and then they blame the tool.

I have majority of old Craftsman (usa) but I also have Kobalt and Harbor Freight and I have been happy with them too. I think people get too caught up where the tools were made.

Nice deal. Would be a great Christmas gift if it was a complete set. I would jump on it if it included a small set of wrenches and plyers. I have a couple people that need house-warming gifts. As it stands, it is basically useless as a household set of tools.

The tools themselves in this set are made in Taiwan so I think they'd be pretty good, Taiwan makes great hand tools with better quality metal than its neighbor. Tools are more expensive from there so lower quality Taiwanese tools don't really exist, since companies would just dump those manufacturers for China.

That said, modern Craftsman sucks but sometimes they just got shopping on the global marketplace and put something out like this.

You'll need to order 10 of those. 3 will disappear in the warehouse, 4 will get lost in the delivery truck, 2 will just magically walk off your porch, leaving you with one, maybe. 😆

Anyone know what's beneath the lid and in the top drawer? Are those spaces occupied by tools, or is there some empty space for extra tools?
