Beginning MONDAY August 26, Subway will sell any footlong sandwich for $6.99 — a steep discount considering that some footlongs can cost as much as $14 in some cities. It's the privately held chain's latest attempt at luring back customers who are balking at rising fast food prices and spending less when they do go out.

The deal has a catch: The offer is only available via its app or website with the code "699FL" and ends on September 8.

Yep - their profits don't just come from jacking up prices and running skeleton crews, they also come from other cost-cutting & self-destructive tactics like switching to more cheaply-sourced, lower-quality ingredients, and/or smaller portions, hoping no one notices.

Many of these greedy corporations tried fleecing us all for as much as possible these last several years, while their employees suffer, and I'd like to think they've permanently lost the business of millions of people like me who are tired of being price gouged any time money's being exchanged.

Private equity is killing off the last positive aspects of capitalism with their only goal being to extract as much profit as possible.
Would you pay $20 for top ingredients like a wholefood sandwich?

Didn't they end the promo long time ago? I can't believe they charge up to $15 for a footlong sub.

I haven't been to Subway for many, many years, but these BOGO deals that Slickdeals have been posting for the past few months have got me going back again. For the cheaper price I think it's a good deal and even paired it up with the Subway gift cards from the Costco Slickdeal last month making it an even better value. It's definitely not worth it at 12.99 for these footlongs but for 6.50 I think it's a fantastic value.

Don't need to. There are local delis around here who bake their own bread & use quality ingredients, and still price their sandwiches @ <=$10.

There is no way I'm going to install an app in order to buy fast food at a fair price.

If you can't just let me pull in at random, order and pay at the window; then I'm out for good.
Well you can do it via the website as well

If you pick their most expensive sandwich (the beasts in my area), it's about 50% off. I'll still eat if if don't have a better options (like going to the mall).

I looked pretty hard, think the answer is no. Can you do a group order like with Chipotle?

Haven't been to Subway in quite a while. We have one next to a Taco Bell, which prior to the pandemic was always busy. Now, both are dead, due to high pricing. If I want a sub or Pizza, I go to Marco's.

Lol, do people forgot that inflation exists. I def agree with people that companies are greedy as hell, but expecting a price point you saw in 2008 is ridiculous even by slickdeals standards. Something is going to have to be cut, either the price is going to increase or they're going to start shaving of the amount of "value" you get for you sandwich. Not that I feel bad, nor should anyone, they made their bed first when they started overcharging for sandwiches in the first place.
I think people are more upset about paying more while also getting an inferior product compared to what they used to get with the lower prices.

I bought a footlong today from Subway via this deal after 3-4 years and the absolutely shrunk the width of the sandwich and decreased the topping quantity. No way this would be worth the ~$14 retail price they are charging.

Sure, but if I'm just driving past a Subway, and get an impulse for a sub; am I going to want to pull over, open a browser, see if that location is honoring any deals, type in the order, enter my CC# (or worse, have to create an account)?

No, I am not going to ever do any of that, LOL

Yeh no more subway for me. The last two times I had subway, they're more the size of a hotdog with buns. Really sad how they've not been able to innovate or stay with the trends.
Some locations may not have quality sandwiches but that's not the case for all Subway. The local subway in our area sells standard tasting and quality sandwiches. May be you should try some other subway branch?

There's a weird chemical taste to Subway if you do minimal sauces so a reminder that some ingredients are processed 🫤
