Folks, just a heads up -- the "1500 Talk/Text/Data" isn't per month, it's for the entire year. It works out to about 4 minutes/4 texts/4mb data per day.

Don't post false information, if you don't know just don't post.

Unlock policy has been 60 days since November 2021 when Verizon bought Tracfone brands.

Speaking of tax, I calculated what I was charged. It was way off. When I called to question what tax rate they where charging me, the response was "tax is calculated BEFORE discount". But even after recalculating based on the original price I was being taxed a WRONG HIGHER amount than what my local tax was supposed to be. So I called again, to ask what rate I was being tax at, the response "it's automatically calculated" and they don't have a way to find out. I pointed out that they don't say any of this on the invoice or what the tax rate is on invoice either! So guess what? I'm going to contact my local franchise tax board and complain about QVC for over charging on tax! I'm still waiting for a response back from a supervisor about correcting their system with correct tax rates. If no response I'll have to deduct the excess tax from next years taxes. So keep those receipts and invoices!

must be area specific tax. ours was only $38.34 with tax....$2.34 tax total
States have different tax rates for cell service, some are minimal, others are over 10%. This is a phone bundle that includes service so you're getting charged whatever your state requires (same with all TF bundles, doesn't matter where it's purchased).

Another thing to watch out for at QVC, they automatically op you in for a Pay-In-5 plan! They NEVER prompted me during checkout that this was going to happen. I only discovered it after the fact when I checked my credit card bill and the invoice. I had to call them yet again to remove that Pay-In-5 business! If you buy something from QVC make sure you DON'T use Pay-IN-5! If you ever miss a payment it will DESTROY your credit rating!! I probably will never buy another thing from QVC. Very bad customer experience!!

Just phone wise, any reason to go with this A14 compared to the Moto G Power from Straight Talk around the same price? The Moto G Power has double RAM and storage at 8GB and 128GB. Is 1 possible reason more android version updates from samsung but is that worth it for a disposable phone?
I don't see it for around the same price. Can you please link it?

I think that it's just a general rule of thumb. But why wait more than 1 year? You can harvest the time now or anytime less than a year. Plus, on the off chance one or both fail (it's an Orbic after all) better to know sooner than later and have contingencies before it's time critical. Someone was asking about having a few unopened boxed Tracfones and wondered whether they were worth activating since they were two or three years old. Who knows? You could wait and the report back on this thread in, say, 15-18 months. Just a matter of risk tolerance. FWIW, I just activated an Orbic that I bought in Feb. No reason I should have waited but I did.
Hmm... Makes sense, but in the past I got burned a couple of times trying to move the number to another phone, effectively losing the plan - luckily it was only a handful of months lost, but I'm still paranoid when it comes to Tracfone dark magic...
So, assuming my existing plan on my own device has phone number X, does the process look the following:
  • Activate new Orbic phone - during activation select "I want to keep my old number" and transfer it to Orbic, which will have 1yr + remainder of my current plan.
  • Activate next Orbic phone - repeat the above. The 2nd Orbic now has 2 years + remainder
  • ... Go through the rest of the TEU Shipping container with unactivated Orbics repeating the above :-))))
  • Use a new BYOD Tracfone SIM in the original phone and activate it using the existing line number thus inheriting all the accumulated time.
The last step worries me a bit given that Tracfone already has its IMEI in their database. I would really hate if some problem in their technically excellent </sarcasm> system left my line in limbo (had it once and never got them to fix it). Any problems I should be aware of?

Like seriously, who doesn't already have a qvc account. I had several of them many years ago but they all got shut down for Coupon FRAUD So stop advising people to just open up a new account. They aren't stupid there. They will eventually block credit cards, shipping addresses and emails.

Is this phone better than the Blu View 5G available with the unlimited talk/text and 24GB of data?

If so could I buy both and use that plan for this phone?

When I switched back to the original device that had the Tracfone service, I just found that device in my online account and clicked the activate button, then keep my number to move everything back. I did not use a new BYOP SIM because as you said, that phone was already paired with the SIM in it.
