These streamers stream music from services like Spotify, Apple Music, etc. You can stream music from your iPhone, for example. However, the streaming services stream music at a very high resolution (CD quality or better), and if you have a good enough HiFi system and want to take full advantage of the high-resolution stream, you may want to have dedicated streamers like these.

I own the standard A6 and it's incredible for the price, especially with this sale. It's closer to state of the art than any sub-$1,000 component has a right to be and has many features I'm still not even taking advantage of yet. The firmware is updated frequently and new functionality has been added since I bought the unit. Highly recommended, if you're on the fence.

This or wait for a deal on the A8?

I have a 7.2 system consisting of two kef R7s for music stereo music listening. Using apple music and Spotify.

Denon AVR-X6700H AVR with a Emotiva XPA-5 Gen3 to power the beasts.

I do have a wiim pro/apple tv, but I temped to get this. Thoughts? I assume this has a better dac than both the wiim and the Denon. Should I get this to get apple to lossless? Wait for A8? Get something else?

A6 and A6 Master have dual ESS 9038 DACs, whereas A8 has dual AKM velvet sound DACs, considered better (warmer) than ESS DACs. A8 also has a higher-end clock to reduce jitter. The consensus among those who tried both is that A8 sounds better.
Many consider top AKM DACS have warmer sound but also many think top ESS DACS sound more linear and have more details. Different people likes different tastes.

Not really. These units stream music from providers such as Spotify, Apple Music, etc. That being said, for these units in particular, if you have a collection of CDs, you can rip them, save the files to internal storage, and stream your own music.
So basicly yes is what I'm hearing.

For newbees, I own one and others. What this does is stream from many different vendors (apple music, spotify, amazon, tidal, quobuz, ...) AND you can put a NVMe SSD up to 2TB and store your music on this device and play them all with decent quality. The A6 works well as a streamer to your external DAC, which is how I use it. I have tried many different streamers and this is probably the best one at this price point. As a streamer to an external DAC, it beats the competition at this price point. If you use the internal DAC, the A6 is mediocre, so people upgrade to the A8, which has a much better DAC. You need a pretty good system to hear the benefit. For many people, the Wiim pro plus is cheaper, does the same thing, but isnt quite the same sound quality as this. I also have the Wiim pro plus for my office system. If you want an all-in-one, wait for the Wiim Amp Pro coming out shortly, which has a decent built in amp as well.
Isnt it 4TB?

You making my second guess getting the a6 master and not the a8. But there is a big price difference between 999 and 1800.

Yes, up to 4TB, My collection comfortably fits in 2TB and one used to be able to get a good 2TB SSD for $70 like the intel 670p (now double the price).

If you want an all in one with a decent DAC, IMHO you are better off getting a separate DAC. The master is also not sure is worth it. You are paying mostly for a better DAC. Again, if you have a separate DAC, it doesnt matter. You are also paying for a better power supply, again I am not sure it matters that much for the streamer part, but less certain about this. I would first put my money in getting a good external dac and the basic unit. You can spend about $1000 for the external DAC and there are quite a few choices in that range of excellent DACS. Then $800 for the basic unit, and that totals the same as the A8.

Better DAC was the goal than the current Denon AVR-6700H, which is still achieved with the a6 master?

Good suggestion if I didnt purchase on ebay for 999 already. But this gives me the option to add an external dac later on as well. Maybe I will just sell/return thus one too for a better deal on the regular edition to do a separate DAC, or wait for an A8 deal
