damn. i JUST switched to visible, but from something else. if you have amex business platinum, you can get $10 off every month meaning it will cost you $5 a month for this plan. extra slick
Their basic plan was unusable for me(hard to get service in Los Angeles since youre deprioritized).
Their upgraded plan is great tho.
If you live in a large metropolitan area, you will constantly be deprioritized and suffer low data speeds on this particular plan. Consider this more of a backup option for that scenario.

About to move abroad and want to keep my US number. Would I be able to use this for calls with Wifi calling as if I were in the US?
Not sure about Visible but Tello should work (plans start at $5/mo without data) -- make sure you setup voicemail after porting over and turn on wifi calling while you're here in the US

Google "tello overseas wifi calling"

Had visible for 8 months and you do get what you pay for.
What do you get?
I've used it for three years and often hotspot in my car or home or at a cafe, used 11GB of unlimited 4G/5G and never had issues, it's often more reliable than my home internet.
Of course YMMV, but at least in California (sf bay area) and Nevada where I've used it had no issues.

So Metro port in wont work?
You can try it. During your sign up, once you put in your account number and transfer pin, be sure to choose T-Mobile as the carrier you're porting from. If all goes well, you should be up and running within a matter of hours or minutes.

**it really doesn't matter if the carrier is TMo or not, just select T-Mobile, as the WLNP system will know where the phone number is coming from and it will automatically tell you if it's a wireless or wireline number. So when they run the CSR and submit for the approval, the company where your number is hosted will auto approve it, if all of the account information matches. Also you have to make sure the first and last name and zip code are an exact match as it is on the account you are porting from.

Thanks for that! I forgot all about the gmail + trick.

My wife has been the biggest opponent of the change. She worries our service will be worse, since TMobile has been great for us. I'll see if I can convince her to change tonight.

We're also only paying $89 for two Military Magenta 1.0 plans, which includes discounted Netflix ($40/line). If we switch to another service and come back I doubt we'll be able to get an equivalent deal.

Visible offers a 15 day free trial. Try it out and see if your service is comparable to T-Mobile. If your phone can do eSIM, you should be able to test out the free trial on Verizon's network as soon as today. If you have to wait for a SIM card to arrive before you can start your free trial, this deal could possibly be over before you even get a chance to test out the network. Not sure how long this deal goes for.

Indefinitely?

EDIT: nevermind, $695 annual fee, yikes. even after you factor in the $200 clear credit and $200 incidental (only 1 airline lol) plus $120 in cell phone credits, you still haven't recouped the cost. those are the most common credits I can see, the others are a lot more fringe cases.

I think penfed pathfinder is a cheaper and better card. you get global entry/pre check for free and also $100 annual incidental airline credit (across multiple carriers). annual fee is easy to waive with a $500 checking balance

on the subject of this deal, it wouldn't be difficult to port to mint and then immediately into visible. buy like 1 month of mint service. if you have multiple lines, they're running a promo right now where you can get up to 5? lines for $15 total for a few months. maybe ride that, then switch

Giving it a shot with my Tello Mobile service/transfer out to Visible. I chose T-Mobile as the carrier it was with now, as someone else suggested earlier. I'll update later on results.

After the order was completed, I was a bit confused....was there somewhere I could select esim vs regular sim card? The completed order says they're sending me the physical sim card. Do I have an option to use the esim instead, since my 2023 Moto G Stylus 5g should be able to handle it?

Also, I should know this...but don't. When do I lose service with Tello? After they port out the number from Tello or after I activate the sim card with visible?

UPDATE several hours after my original post above...The number transfer from Tello to Visible was approved and now I'm just waiting for the physical SIM card to arrive. Hopefully it works ok with my number transfer and I get the $15/mo deal. I'll update this again with results in a few days after I get the SIM card.

When I started the switch via their website, it asked me for my current carrier and phone. I believe the next screen asked if I wanted to do the eSIM or wait for a physical sim.

The port out typically doesn't happen until you receive and activate sim.

Unfortunately, there are reports that sometimes the port out happens immediately (even though you haven't received sim yet), and you have zero service until you receive the sim

One trick is to put the wrong portout PIN when ordering physical sim. Sim will ship but visible will tell you wrong pin and ask you to enter the correct one

I've ported 2 from tello and one of the 1st thing it asks is the IMEI or esim to see if your phone is compatible.

I think you'll have to wait for your physical sim to convert to esim.

you lose tello when you activate.

Wonder how it compares to US Mobile. Price wise it's better because their unlimited plan is $25. Won't be able.to port anyway since it's all verizon.

It worked just fine with my port out of Mint last night and into Visible. Visible's system recognizes the port as a T-Mobile port and not a 'sub brand, non T-Mobile.'
But it says postpaid account, isn't Mint prepaid? Will Visible take back your discount later?
