Google "tello overseas wifi calling"
I've used it for three years and often hotspot in my car or home or at a cafe, used 11GB of unlimited 4G/5G and never had issues, it's often more reliable than my home internet.
Of course YMMV, but at least in California (sf bay area) and Nevada where I've used it had no issues.
**it really doesn't matter if the carrier is TMo or not, just select T-Mobile, as the WLNP system will know where the phone number is coming from and it will automatically tell you if it's a wireless or wireline number. So when they run the CSR and submit for the approval, the company where your number is hosted will auto approve it, if all of the account information matches. Also you have to make sure the first and last name and zip code are an exact match as it is on the account you are porting from.

My wife has been the biggest opponent of the change. She worries our service will be worse, since TMobile has been great for us. I'll see if I can convince her to change tonight.
We're also only paying $89 for two Military Magenta 1.0 plans, which includes discounted Netflix ($40/line). If we switch to another service and come back I doubt we'll be able to get an equivalent deal.

EDIT: nevermind, $695 annual fee, yikes. even after you factor in the $200 clear credit and $200 incidental (only 1 airline lol) plus $120 in cell phone credits, you still haven't recouped the cost. those are the most common credits I can see, the others are a lot more fringe cases.
I think penfed pathfinder is a cheaper and better card. you get global entry/pre check for free and also $100 annual incidental airline credit (across multiple carriers). annual fee is easy to waive with a $500 checking balance
on the subject of this deal, it wouldn't be difficult to port to mint and then immediately into visible. buy like 1 month of mint service. if you have multiple lines, they're running a promo right now where you can get up to 5? lines for $15 total for a few months. maybe ride that, then switch
After the order was completed, I was a bit confused....was there somewhere I could select esim vs regular sim card? The completed order says they're sending me the physical sim card. Do I have an option to use the esim instead, since my 2023 Moto G Stylus 5g should be able to handle it?
Also, I should know this...but don't. When do I lose service with Tello? After they port out the number from Tello or after I activate the sim card with visible?
UPDATE several hours after my original post above...The number transfer from Tello to Visible was approved and now I'm just waiting for the physical SIM card to arrive. Hopefully it works ok with my number transfer and I get the $15/mo deal. I'll update this again with results in a few days after I get the SIM card.

Unfortunately, there are reports that sometimes the port out happens immediately (even though you haven't received sim yet), and you have zero service until you receive the sim
One trick is to put the wrong portout PIN when ordering physical sim. Sim will ship but visible will tell you wrong pin and ask you to enter the correct one

I think you'll have to wait for your physical sim to convert to esim.
you lose tello when you activate.
